"I contacted them because they handle the insurance for the company I work for. After multiple attempts via phone and email regarding a cancellation notice on a brand new policy I was told they were working with the insurance company and waiting for a response. (Don't bother calling or emailing because they are unresponsive) After receiving a refund check I contacted the insurance company myself. They never received anything from Smithers. My advice ... Don’t waste your time."

"I had been communicating with this company as a third-party, or a middleman in between my actual insurance company. I got some paperwork stating that I need to do a roof inspection. I knew they did one for the appraisal, so I sent Smithers a copy of the section where they had inspected the roof. Come to find out I need an actual roof inspection. So I did so. I emailed Smithers The appraisal that my insurance company had asked for. They reassured me that they had forward this to the insurance company. I got a notice in the mail two days ago stating that my insurance was not renewed due to the fact that I did not supply proper documentation. After sitting on the phone with my insurance company all morning come to find out Smithers continue to send my appraisal and not the proper documentation. My homeowners insurance got completely canceled as a result, and it took hours sitting on the phone I’m forwarding messages to show them that I had actually sent the proper documentation but the third-party that they have handling everything did not do their job. I am very unhappy with the service that I got at Smithers. Due to the mistake that they made I wasted hours of my life, many phone calls trying to figure out why my insurance was not being renewed after supplying proper documentation. I will not be contacting this company as a third-party any longer, I will contact my homeowners insurance directly from now on."
