"Had 2nd degree burns on about 20% of my body and was taken here to be treated. The entire staff that cared for me was very nice and super attentive to anything I needed anytime throughout the day or night. They explained to me very thoroughly about the procedures that needed to be done and got me in and out of surgery with as little pain as they possibly could. I appreciate the entire staff that took care of me and the Doctors that did the procedures but I definitely have to give a shout-out to Jesse, Olga, and James for being so great and helpful while I was there!"

"I had a second degree scalding burn several years ago. I was referred to the Burn Clinic at Shands and they did a wonderful job! They are very knowledgeable on burn treatment. They gave clear instructions on what I needed to do to care for myself at home. They were so helpful. Anytime I had questions about something I could call and ask. I can't say enough good things about them."

"I wasn't there because of a fire, I wasn't burned. I did need skin grafts though and they were the only ones who could do it. I have to say, I love the nurses. They helped me through the toughest time of my life. I was there from Mid-May to Mid-June of '14. I thought I'd be there much longer but the doctor's and nurses took such good care of me, I got out much sooner than I expected. The OT and PT staff that came to the ward are the best also. I'm so glad they were all there to help me. It wasn't just the physical care I needed either, they helped me mentally. They helped me realize I could get through this and life does go on. Thank you seems like such small words to express the gratitude I fell towards them. But it's all I have,so hoping they read this, THANK YOU!!"

"Shands Burn Center in Gainesville, Fl is the BEST IN THE WORLD . We had a terrible house fire in Jan. 2012. My husband was burned all over his body (about 30%). The care he received at this unit was amazing. There were times when we did not think he would survive, but because of the treatment he received from the Burn Unit, he did. The nurses in the burn center are second to no one. They were very attentive and they were able to make life or death decisions under extreme pressure. I am not exaggerating when I say life or death. The nurses watched over him like a hawk. The Physicians at the Burn Center are so very knowledgeable and always kept me and our family informed. The Burn Center did such a good job, that the original release date for my husband was 6 to 8 months out, however, with such great care, he was discharged in 3 months. Awesome...Wonderful....they are. I will be forever grateful and Thank God for letting him heal at Shands Burn Center . The staff at the Burn Center are wonderful as well...very professional....very protective of the patients. I really appreciated them. Today, over a year since the fire....my husband is doing very well....he has had several follow up visits with the burn center and they are just as wonderful as the in-patient staff. I could go on and on about Shands Burn Center...but I mainly want to say how very blessed we were to have been sent to Shands Burn Center in Gainesville,Fl. Thank You Very Much Shands Burn Center."
