"EDITING AFTER RESPONSE FROM VET: We were only given 3 options over the phone. 1. referral to another vet for transfusion 2. antibiotics and liquitinic to fight anemia and plausible infection 3. euthanization I do not recall being told the that her prognosis was very poor or that you wanted to keep her there hospitalized. I also was not given ideas of what could be the problem. Again, I am not saying you are the reason my dog passed. She was very sick and I honestly don't think anything could have saved her at that point. It's the very poor communication, no follow up, no call backs, etc that I found to be upsetting. ... I have used NWFLAC for several of our animals and always had a good experience. However, we recently had such a bad experience I need to warn people. Our 1 year old dog started acting a little off on Tuesday. Not enough to seriously worry me, but I did call the vet in the afternoon. I left a message asking to be called back. I never got a call. The next morning she clearly wasn't feeling great but was still getting up and coming to me, drinking water, and even chased after an animal in the yard with the other dogs. I called the vet and they answered and told me to bring her in. I got her there around 9:45/10. They had me fill out an intake sheet but asked almost no questions. I thought that was odd, but figured the vet would call with questions. at 12 I got a call from the vet saying she did her blood work and she was super anemic and had high white blood cell count, indicating an infection. She said the gold standard would be to refer her to another hospital to do a transfusion, and the next best thing would be to do liquid iron and an antibiotic and to send her home. I opted for the second since she wasn't doing horribly that morning. She said she was running a fecal and would call in an hour after getting her meds for me to come get her. At 3:30 I called them because I hadn't heard anything. They said to go ahead and come get her. When I got there, I asked to talk to the vet because I wanted to know more about what they think the issue could be and some homeopathic things I had researched to help. There was no vet in the building. There were two people working and they were obviously overwhelmed saying what a busy day it had been. I asked for the fecal results and the tech said she couldn't find fecal results and would ask the vet the next day. When I got my dog, she was miserable. I got her home and got her to eat a tiny bit but she was barely interested. The next day was the same. Didn't eat any food, barely drank water, but the tech told me the antibiotics would wreck her stomach so I assumed it was that. I called again for the fecal results and was told there was a miscommunication that the vet told me she "was going to send one" but they never got around to it. I do not understand how she was there for 7 hours and a fecal wasn't run. The next morning, I could tell she was not getting better at all. I called the vet midday asking what I could do since she was really doing poorly. The receptionist said the vet was gone on a farm call but would call me back in half an hour. I never got a call back. My dog died an hour later. While I do not think there is much they could've done because she deteriorated SO fast, I am incredibly frustrated by their lack of follow up or personalized care for my dog. They are great with our livestock and check ups, but please do NOT bring your dogs/cats here for emergencies or urgent care. They do not have the staff to support it and the vets are regularly not there because they are prioritizing livestock. I understand this because they are the only livestock vet in our area, but they really shouldn't be taking urgent care cases that could go to another vet if they don't have the time to care for them."
"On Friday my wife and I had to make the hardest decision we ever had to make. Our 19 year old baby was our entire world and we had to let her go. She was tired and her body was failing her but not once did I feel forced or made to feel like we had to do it that day. Stacy was so kind in her words and her compassion was unbelievable. She helped me find peace in knowing we were doing what was best for our dog Dr. Crooke was kind and really took her time explaining what she was doing and took her time with Princess so her final moments were peaceful and not chaotic. We wanted to do it at home and they tried so hard to get out to us but Princess was suffering and we just couldn't wait any longer. They went above and beyond during the whole experience. They even did extra things like getting her nose and paw prints and placing her so gently in her box to be buried. I highly recommend this establishment to any one who has an animal large or small. They are truly incredible humans and I am so thankful we found them during this incredibly tough time in our life. Thank you to everyone who helped us that day!"
"Dr. Thompson and staff members were absolutely amazing. From my first call to the very end. I wish I knew the ladies name I spoke with because she was amazing. She calmed me down and got me in right away with no hesitation. Unfortunately, the outcome for my horse was not what we expected but Dr. Thompson was honest and professional the entire time. Her love and knowledge for horses showed instantly. I would recommend Dr. Thompson and her staff to anyone. Thank you for caring for my sweet boy and helping me and my husband get through one of the hardest times of our lives. Thank you. - Kelli & Brennen"
"I took my doberman here for his neutering and the staff were amazing. He's scared/ shy guy in New places and when he came out he was groggy. They gave me information about his care. We are 14 days since then and he's changed dramatically. He's more confident when we go out. He listens and isn't as stubborn and he's friendly. I honestly didn't know how much of change getting him fix would make but there's a HUGE change. Also I called them 2 times. 1: for pricing (cause you gotta shop around) and 2: for scheduling. They didn't mind that at all. THANK YOU, for taking care of my doberdee ( atlas). We will be back!"
"Did multiple surgeries to remove a sarcoma off of my mares ear. I've known doctor brown for 7 years and I absolutely adore her! Extremely knowledgable and friendly staff, never had a bad experience here, and best of all it's affordable ! All of our dogs, cats, and horses go here"
