"This restaurant was suggested to us by friends for a unique experience. That it was. We were meeting another couple there, one of which was handicapped. They were not taking the boat shuttle because Caps could not handle a handicapped person on their boat. We decided to simply meet them at the restaurant for simplicity. Turns out that the old restaurant is in a residential area where the limited parking is strictly for those with a handicap sticker. The boat shuttle driver sternly warned us and another couple arriving at the same time that we couldn't park here, and to drive back out of the neighborhood to where the shuttle dock was, a couple miles away. Ok. But then the restaurant owner came out (an older woman) and yelled at everyone about the parking situation. So, we and the other couple left, we called our friends who were still on their way and decided that we did not want to patronize this place and went to dinner elsewhere. This restaurant, though it has an interesting history and was there well before any nearby homes, looks like its time there is done and the owner did nothing to convince us otherwise."

"If you love the history of the place you can appreciate the run down look of it. We have been going here as a family for 15 years. The food is great. Tonight's service was a bit slow getting our dinners."

"For 20, maybe 30 years I've heard and read about this place. Finally I got my friend to actually drive me to it. It's authentic. I loved the atmosphere, it smells of old wood, not unpleasant, decorated with funky old Florida primitive paintings, nautical bric-a-brac and ancient framed newspaper and magazine clippings. The menu is pleasingly short, not overburdened with choices. Our party of three ate very well with high-quality ingredients. The seafood platter had some of the sweetest-tasting scallops I've eaten and some nicely sized shrimp. The crab cakes were outstanding, big pieces of crabmeat nestled in a delicious breading. The swamp cabbage (heart of palm) salad was terrific, served with a seasoned mayonnaise. Our outstanding waiter came by showing us the actually heart of the palm tree from which our salads were made. The key lime was on point, not too sweet with a lovely tangy tartness on a slightly crisp crust. The bar was closed but they did pour me a scotch to begin, and kept the Heinekens coming during my meal. An altogether a memorable meal, including a free boat ride!"

"Had supper at Cap's last night with a group of 4 and it was excellent. The experience was like being transported back in time to a 1920s coastal Florida speakeasy. While Florida is full of imitation reality, these buildings are original and the staff will explain some of the history as if they were there (I expect some of them were). It is a small family business and can be eccentric. While we could order drinks in the dining room, the bar was closed (the website recommends calling ahead so while making a reservation you should check). Our party had 3 seafood meals, one steak and all were excellent. This is a unique dining experience and I will add it to my very short list of favorites."

"Phenomenal evening! Our server, Melissa, was one of the best and funniest waitresses I have ever had at any restaurant. The oldest restaurant in Broward county did not disappoint. Nice little boat ride to the restaurant. Excellent food."
