"I was here voluntarily in march of last year. I had a pretty good experience here. Food wasn’t terrible, and most of the staff were very kind. I was very depressed when I was there though because my (now ex) boyfriend left me. I especially hope the staff member Davon sees this because she was incredibly kind to me while I was there! I know there’s a lot of horrible reviews about this place but my experience wasn’t all that bad…there’s some pretty horrible facilities in Florida and I’ve been at many! The only things I will say I didn’t like about this facility was that I was stuck waiting in a chair for like 3 hours until like 3AM while I waited to be admitted and I was placed on the substance abuse unit the entire time I was there and I’m not an addict to drugs or alcohol but the unit was pretty calm everyone was super nice I’m still in touch with a patient I met there who was super comforting to me"

"I was brought here by Florida statute due to a poor choice of wording at an ER. There were not enough beds on the floor I was supposed to be on, so I was placed in the geriatric ward for an evening. I will say the nurses and techs on this floor were very kind for the 24 hours I was there. However, when I was moved to the appropriate floor, it was a nightmare. I met with a Dr. and a social worker and explained to them my situation and that it was all a misunderstanding and it seemed like they understood. I come to find out, the doctor only prescribed me medication that I didn't even need and the social worker did nothing. My husband brought clothes at 1:45pm and I did not receive them until after 6pm! I kept asking for my belongings and no one could seem to locate it. After my required 72 hours, I was told that I was still a risk to myself and that they were keeping me. I was specifically told my "Dr. Mike" that the facility superseded the law and they could keep me as long as they wanted. I told them keeping me was detrimental to my health, my family and my job. He could care less. He told me to see a nurse for medication for my anxiety. I have never had anxiety in my life. All this facility wants to do is drug their patients and not help anyone. I did not meet with any counselors, therapists, social workers to assess my situation. I was just told that I was still a risk based on what had happened in the ER. When the medication nurse called me to take my meds that I did not need, I told her I did not need them. She was rude and condescending about the whole thing. She treated the other patients with the same disrespect. A gentleman who did not have the proper insurance was begging for help, but they were forcing his discharge because the insurance was not going to pay. Needless to say they kept me for 7 days, against my will, risking my job, my kids schooling and my mental health so they could bill my insurance $2700 a night for me being there. The facility is not there to help anyone. They are there to bill insurance companies. They keep you past the Florida statute 72 hours because they immediately file a court date, before they even assess you, so that they can hold you legally. They will then discharge you right before that court date because they know they don't have a leg to stand on. The counseling groups they have are pathetic. The leaders are rude, condescending and unhelpful if you go against their agenda. I wouldn't wish this facility on my worst enemy."

"Disgusted with the care and treatment patients seeking help received in this place!! The staff SHOULD NOT be working with patients or humans in desperate need of mental health help!! They are all RUDE, have major attitude problems and are cold hearted with absolutely no empty or compassion!! They speak to the patients as if they were criminals yell at them discredit them if they asked nicely if it was possible to have their food warmed up. It was HEARTBREAKING to hear my loved one tell me how the LOUSY STAFF MEMBERS in unit 3A yelled at a gentleman telling him his foods not cold that she just heated it up simply because he asked for d she could please heat up his meatball sub , that was OBVIOUSLY COLD when he bite into it! My loved one received no toothbrush, no towel, I delivered her clothes at 230 and it was 730 the next morning when we spoke and she still had not received her clothes! She has not seen a Dr to help her deal with her depression. when she did see the Dr it was to let her know she couldn’t discharge herself until 24hrs after asking to be let go. She told the Dr I need to see someone and speak to a DR, the Dr then told her that he is a Dr and that bc he is a Dr that she actually is talking to one!! His tone and attitude was HORRIBLE! That was a UNBELIEVABLE response towards someone contemplating suicide!!! She told him that she needed help and someone to talk with about her thoughts and how she was feeling and he tells her he is taking to her , but nothing about HER reason to voluntarily commit was discussed!! I am disgusted with this place, the staff, their approach and how they respond to patients in dire need of mental health support!!! The “group “ sessions are made in a PUBLIC OPEN SPACE WITH the TVS blasting behind them in an area near the nurse station with staff talking and laughing and everyone hearing their personal and medical information!! It’s unfortunate that this is the only option for mental health care!"

"I was in the facility for 12 days. Most of them were complete misery. I will tell you right now the med nurse that I had most often treated me like a prisoner. She was foul and mean they were also a couple others the treated you like an animal the aids if that’s who I had to deal with it would’ve been fine I do not like the idea we of them telling me I will not get out if I don’t eat everything on my plate. Well excuse me most of what they serve for me was inedible. I do not eat hot, hard, boiled eggs, which they were every time I do not eat most fish, and the rest of the food was on a scale of one through five of a 1. I am now moving onto aftercare. I’m going to give them one more chance to see me since I’ve been home. Hopefully the treatment will have been better because I’m not a patient sadly as much as I’d like to I would not refer anyone to this hospital until they get a change of staff I did not need to feel depressed and then get treated like a second class citizen by the nurses."
