Reviews
"This is my first time to dine at this restaurant based on a friend's suggestion. Though it is quite a drive from where I live, I thought I would try the place so I have other Filipino restaurants to consider within the area if I have a craving for Filipino Food. This review is meant to offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, not a put down. So positive as well as negative comments are being offered for consideration. I was greeted warmly and enthusiastically by a guy in T-shirt and shorts and was told that I can take any seat. I ordered several items on the menu, most of them to go, and two I ate right there and then. By and large, the food was okay, prices are highly reasonable and presentation is great. I love" lumpiang sariwa" and "Halo-halo" which were mainly the reason I went to this restaurant. I sat down and ate these two items while I wait for my to go orders. I'm neither a chef nor a cook, but I know what these are made of back in the old days of Little Quiapo at UP Diliman, QC, D. Tuazon, QC, and Espana in Manila. Although the lumpia was nicely presented and the sauce tasted great, the wrapper was too thick. There was very little or none of the other vegetables that I expected like the lettuce, cabbage and cubed sweet potato. It was dominated by the singkamas and the sweet pea pods (which I don't think had ever been used as a lumpia ingredient.) The halo-halo was full of the ube and leche flan but again lacked the sweet dried or candied ingredients like kaong, sweet potato, white and red beans. These two items brought down heavily my general rating for food. "2" rating The pancit Bihon guisado was very tasty and could very well feed 3 - 4 people. Rated "4". The mami was as expected and tasted good "3", but the siopao was excellent "5". I will get the siopao anytime. I'm craving some of it as I am writing this. The pancit Palabok was delicious and rated a "4", and so was the Bangus sisig. The Turon was so-so, because it got sort of wilted and the bananas were somewhat overriped. It was not rolled in brown sugar, instead syrup must have been used, so it made the wrapper soggy. "2". The buchi was also good. Toast it to warm it up and make it a little crunchy. "3". Before I drove to this restaurant, I called a friend, who has been asking me for a while to bring her to a Filipino restaurant, if she wanted to tag along. "Fortunately", she had guests in her house so she couldn't go. I am not an elitist but when I bring along a non-Filipino friend, I prefer to take them to a dine-in restaurant with more standard restaurant setting/atmosphere like Nipa Hut or Kabayan. I will go back to Pistang Pilipino to buy their siopao, and maybe try again the lumpang sariwa and halo-halo."
"Feels like home! The food are so good, very tasty and authentic. The Pinakbet and Chicken Curry are the best and for the desserts, try the halo-halo and leche flan. However, we kinda disappointed with the Ube Halaya (not good). We received great and friendly customer service! The restaurant has mini store so if you're craving for Filipino goodies, its available! Given a chance, I'll be back here!"
"the Halo-halo so smooth and creamy, not too sweet. the sweetness comes from the leche flan, and ube halaya and the rest of the toppings. the CRISPY PATA - everyone's fave! crispy skin and soft, tender meat off the bone. the FRESH LUMPIA - good for 2 people. so good. not for people with peanut allergies though. but its soooo good. If you are In Orlando or nearby, visit this restaurant. Very good filipino food if not the best. :)"
"Tried them for dinner ordering by phone to go. We got the Filipino Spaghetti and Chicken, and a Leche Flan. The Spaghetti portions were very large for the price. Really can feed two. The chicken it came with was ok, kind of was expecting like Jollibee, but it was more like a naked fried chicken. I have had their Leche Flan before and did not care for it as it had a weird taste in the background, but this time was quite good, so I would try again before I can really say recommend, but overall good experience with the food and ease of ordering. Conveniently close to work for me to order lunch or bring dinner home on my way back from work."
"Tried Pistang Pilipino today for the first time and I would have to say that they are not bad. On this first visit, we ordered Pork BBQ, Dinuguang Tagalog, Pork Sinigang, Lechon Kawali and Turon. Everything was really good, especially my all time favorite, the Pork BBQ. The only suggestion I would make is to cut down on the green onions on the Dinuguan. The green onion flavor was overpowering, at least for me. The turon, was excellent! The atmosphere was nice and the staff were really friendly. Don't worry about the parking, there are plenty of parking spaces. As far as the prices go, not bad at all. The prices are comparable, if not even lower, than the other Filipino restaurants in the area. The portions and quality really surprised us! You really get your money's worth at this restaurant. I would have to say, at least on this first visit, that Pistang Pilipino was a success. Highly recommended!"
