Great Southern Cafe

"My husband and I found this gem while we were walking through the town square. We could smell the delicious aroma coming from this restaurant. We were delighted to see they had a good selection on their menu. We ordered the Blue Crab Claws as an appetizer and the Grits À Ya Ya for our main dish. Both were mouthwatering and busting with flavors. We sat at the outdoor tables and enjoyed the sunshine while we savoured every bite! We can't wait to bring our family here on our next visit! We highly recommend this place."

"Perfect location with a menu for just about anybody. Fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. Drinks were amazing and the atmosphere couldn’t have been better. Right in the middle of seaside with plenty of outdoor space, bars to enjoy the games and seating for families."

"While visiting some friends we decided to try out this restaurant. It seems to be a popular place to eat as there is always a line waiting to be seated. Once seated we were greeted by a friendly waitress who took our order. When the food came out everything was perfect. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal. This is a great place to visit and enjoy a wonderful home cooked meal."

"Great Southern Cafe was a great place for lunch, but we had some issues while we were there. One of our friends never got her food, so after waiting for what felt like forever, she just told them to cancel her order. As for my meal, I had a bowl of Gumbo and the Seafood Tower. I would highly recommend the Seafood Tower and a peach mojito."

"Updated 8/18/2023 Went back to give this place another try (I gave it 3 stars the first time, review down below) and let me tell you I have dropped this down from 3 to 1. The plate that I got was not bad (the signature plate) but taking into consideration what everyone else got it was mediocre for the price and THE WAIT to get the food. The wait was not worth the food and I can say that next time I am in the area this is one place I will not be coming back. —————————- (Old 3 star review) Service was slow. cheesy grits good and French dip tasted like pot roast if you’re into that you’ll love it. Burger was well done they did not ask how you wanted. Kinda dry. Fish was good and mash potatoes as well. Overall good environment if you’re sitting out there is not much fan or air circulation. I found the waitress not that friendly and seemed in a rush. The biggest downside that I’m telling you here that I was not aware was the 3.5 percent up charge for using a credit card. Not cool and maybe I’m not use to that but I can’t say I have been to too many places that do that"
