"These guys treated me so well. I got a flat yesterday, a nail went into the middle of the tread of one of my new tires. Only six weeks old, but oh well. I called Oakwood Tire Co this morning and asked if they would patch it for me. I wasn't expecting much, but they said they could get me in today (a Saturday) no problem. I did not have to wait long, maybe 15 minutes for my car to be pulled in. I normally expect a longer wait, because my car is a 5-speed manual and sometimes it takes longer for the one guy who can drive stick to get it inside. Not an issue here! I was able to watch as the technician dismounted the tire, sanded down the inside of the tire, plugged it with a heat-melt rubber type adhesive, and then finally patched it with rubber cement and a patch. What I did not expect, however, was the technician using some sort of fuel (starting fluid, brake cleaner, carb cleaner) to set the inside of the tire in flames to further set the rubber cement. Now, that is not what most shops do when patching tires, they usually just sand the tire and stick them in. This extra step ensured a permanent fix, and it was cool entertainment. Metal as hell, my tire patch has been forged in flames! The technician also mounted the wheel back on using the specific lug nuts for my aftermarket wheel and put the spare back in my trunk. I would have done that myself, but I appreciate the extra effort to do that on a busy morning. The wheels on my car are some 18" Enkeis. They are an aftermarket wheel and I was concerned about the tire machine scratching the finish or the tire spoon gouging the paint. No issues, I do not see a single blemish on the wheel whatsoever. It is even balanced just as smoothly as before. The tire was originally Road Force balanced, and the tech did mount it back in the same orientation, not needing a rebalance. It rides just as smooth as before. Bonus points! I was also slightly concerned with if the tech would have an issue with the tire. It is a Continental DWS06+ in 245/40R18, which is a very low-profile tire with a stiff sidewall for extra cornering grip. No worries, it looked like he had no issues mounting it and did it with his eyes closed almost. Some shops have issues with these low-profile tires. The plug portion of this patch is totally smooth with the tread, you can't even notice it until you run your finger along the tread groove. I am very pleased. I don't expect this patch to fail during the lifetime of this tire. Excellent work, highly recommended."
