Mikata Japanese Steakhouse

"Where do I begin. My husband and I had the hibachi. We were seated right away and our order was taken quickly as well but the wait for the chef was like 20 minutes. I thought maybe they had only 1 chef cooking that night and we had to wait until he was done at the other table. But ours eventually showed up and by the end I was wishing we did just have to wait for the other chef. He only said a few single words and very quietly. He only did a couple tricks, the big fire, flipping the utensils, and the onion train which didn’t actually work. He flung rice and veggies everywhere, and dripped the dipping sauce all over as well. I got the steak and scallops. The steak was overcooked and the scallops were undercooked. The rice, cabbage, and veggies were good though. The chef at the next table kept telling our chef to say something, be entertaining. The hibachi is pricey and they charge extra for the fried rice but you do get a large portion. That other chef, Thomas, did apologize for how our night turned out and told us to give them a second chance and ask for him. He seemed to know that hibachi was for entertainment as well, we heard him during our meal and he seemed very funny and engaging with his table."

"So glad I decided to try this place. Walked through the door and was immediately greeted and seated. Staff was overly kind. Got the chicken teriyaki and it was fantastic! Chicken was super tender, veggies and fried rice were on point. Hard to find good hibachi back home, so I was fortunate to have this place close to the hotel. Best part about my visit to Dothan!"

"One of the best places around. It was so interesting and exciting watching the whole process. We were a group of 7 and absolutely loved everything about this place. The friendliness, the fresh food, the service and the experience was top notch. My husband hates lobster and that's what I got but for some reason he was stealing it off my plate thinking it was chicken and even tho he said it had a different taste and texture then chicken, he loved it. It was a good laugh. Will definitely be going back. LOVE IT !!!"
