"3 stars bc I love that my little one is happy making friends and Ms. Alex is a very nice and great teacher to introduce my son into school. However, the structure of the school is very home daycare like. Lackadaisical most times. At first, I liked how laid back it was, then it got to the point where it’s like whoa, this is not a home daycare. The staff are VERY comfortable in here. There’s been more than once that they have lacked on following the proper procedures and protocols. We’ve only been here since September. As a parent paying out of pocket, they really treat your money like it’s theirs to just take and do whatever with. No matter what happens, the school makes sure they do not have to take financial hardship. Right now, due to Arctic freeze bursting in the school and causing water damage due to inclement weather, the school is closed until jan 3 until further notice. They are not offering any type of reduction in cost for parents at all. Claiming inclement weather, when that’s for OUTDOOR purposes and travel. And saying they still plan to pay the teacher regular pay even though the work load is significantly lightened with the school being closed. While also implementing new tuition rates Jan 1st, go figure. An additional $54 a week for “staff” and to compete with surrounding centers in the area. It would be one thing if the cost showed but it just doesn’t. I almost rather them just charge the same price so we can hold them to a standard. So that would be almost $700 and my little one hasn’t stepped foot in the school since 12/23. And that’s why I’m leaving this review. So there’s transparency on what to expect bc I reached out with my comments and concerns and they have not responded. The teachers will speak with a “good morning” if they’re in the office but when you child gets moved to their classroom for the afternoon or if the teacher is out and you pick them up, there’s been times no introduction is given. I’ve had to ask what their names were after standing there in awkward silence. Which weird to me, how can you watch children and not introduce yourself to their parents/guardians when they’re being picked up/ dropped off? There’s no grace period, so if you don’t make it to the school by 9AM on the dot, they will refuse to take your child for the day unless you called ahead and even then, if you can’t make it by 9:10AM, without a doctor’s note, they’re not gonna allow your child in. I had an incident when I got there at 9:03AM and they were literally gonna turn me around but it was like a month in so I guess they were feeling generous. However, I watched them literally turn a parent around because she was there late, I walked out and checked the time and it was 9:08AM. The lunch lady also told my son’s aunt that outside food was not allowed but never once told me that. And it was a simple gutzy pack. My little one, also came home singing baby shark and that really rattled my nerves. They also do not deny access or separate the children who are obviously sick. I know getting sick is part of the journey but when a child is very clearly coughing out on the other kids and has a running/snotty nose, they should not be around the rest of the kids. Period. An email was sent out pretty much stating that and well, nothing. The parents though, they really come through for the kids. The events really are joy because of them. I will say the parents literally make this place. It could really be a great school. There are just a bunch of small things that group together and weigh the potential down. This is my first experience dealing with a school and it’s just has not been smooth sailing. Daycares are seeming more and more like a money grab. Maybe over $1200 is play money for some, but not me and my tribe. I whole heartedly believe in getting your money’s worth. I figured out how to work this out for me and my tribe and am very thankful pre-k starts in August for my little one. If it didn’t, I’m not sure how much longer I would be able to stick it out."

"Placing my child at Sunbrook Academy has been the best decision for my family. My toddler was happy and excited to be at Sunbrook. They have a positive and secure environment for all the children. They offer a very professional trained staff, hourly reports so parents are able to see updates on their children, spacious shaded playgrounds, and organized cool classrooms for kids to interact and learn. We moved to another state, which is The ONLY reason my child is no longer enrolled here. My child has learned so much from each teacher at this facility and I’m very appreciative. Thank you for taking care of my toddler!"

"My son had absolutely flourished under the care and teaching of this wonderful facility! The directors Chelsee and Jalisha put their hearts and souls into each kid’s experience here! Chef P nourishes the kids both with her yummy meals and her enthusiasm to see them growing healthy! My son insists on getting a hug from her every morning! He started out in the one year old class with Jalisha (at that point a teacher) and Leslie who made him the social butterfly with the language skills of a 5 year old! I’m so grateful for their care! He’s now in the two year olds class with Marquita, Lillie, and Jasmine and they each have taught our boy so much! He’s happy, healthy, smart, creative, and emotionally expressive thanks to their patient and thorough care! The facility is so clean and organized. The security is top notch and they are professional and thorough about safety. They log everything in an app including pictures, meals, lessons, and more so you can see how your child is being cared for. They are worth the price as I feel totally secure and happy with my son in their hands! I cannot thank everyone at Sunbrook enough for helping my son thrive!"

"Horrible experience. My son's classroom had a broken A/C unit and they decided to fix it by putting tunnels in the window. My other son was hit in the head with a block and when I got there no one thought to at least put a bandage on him. At pick up they would always have dried snot on their face. The broken down school bus and old diaper smell when you first walk should have been my clue to unenroll my children. But I gave them a try anyway. Trust your gut when you get here and ask about the curriculum. They don't have one!"

"Not where you want to send your child. The buses are old and broke down in the parking lot. The classrooms run off of window ac units. The teachers have horrible grammar and will teach your children that same grammar. There is no real curriculum so your child will learn how to play. You get what you pay for. I really wanted to root for them because of the majority black staff. But it's not worth it in the end. Your child will suffer from their lack of decision making skills."
