"I was in the dining room years ago and remember it as being pretty good. Returned this week and was very disappointed. The chicken was the best dish served and it was pretty average…the pot roast and most sides (other than the Mac & Cheese) were bland and flavorless. Good service though. Sorry, but no longer worth the price !!"

"Great location and super cute room. I stayed in a 2 bed/2 bath with my family, and our room was equipped with a full kitchen, living room, and balcony with rocking chairs. We were in room 124, literally steps away from the adorable shops and restaurants. It was very convent to walk out of our room and simply cross the street to have breakfast and meander the quaint shops. The room was competitively priced and was a good value for our money. Everyone was well cleaned and comfortable. We stayed 3 nights (Friday - Monday). Here's the downside to this historic hotel: No elevators. We had to climb 2 flights of stairs from the parking lot with our heavy luggage. If you are unable to climb stairs or carry your heavy luggage by yourself, this will be an issue. We arrived after hours (after 10 pm) and were told there would be an extra blanket and pillow in each room, which there wasn't. The beds only had a sheet and a very thin cover and only one of the rooms had an extra blanket. We were cold on our first night. When you stay with multiple people (there were 3 of us), agreeing on the temperature of the house can be challenging (there was one main cooling/heating system for the whole space). Housekeeping should ensure that each room has the amenities it needs. Something as simple as extra blankets should be standard. We were also told there would be bottles of water in our room, which there was not. That may seem like a small thing to mention, but after a long day of travel from the west coast and arriving late at night, it would have been nice to have some bottled water. Being steps away from the main square was a pleasant surprise and welcomed, but it was also very noisy. There were lots of people and street traffic noise on Friday and Saturday night. It was quieter on Sunday, but Monday morning we were awakened at 7:15am by the city's workers and their gas powered leaf blowers. For nearly 75 minutes they sounded as if they were in our room. I know the hotel has no control over this, but they could certainly invest in upgraded windows. The windows in the bedroom were drafty and old with no seal and no screens. Every little noise from outside felt like it was in our room. Waking up this way really soured the end of our stay. Overall, it was a good trip. If we every stay here again, we will be mindful of where our room is located and possibly request one farther away from the busy town square."

"Found a little hidden treasure. The hotel is situated in the middle of town within walking distance of restaurants and the town square. Practically sits on the campus of University of North Georgia but it is so tranquil you would never know. The rooms were nice and several types to choose from. The receptionist was nice and accommodating. Enjoyed my stay here and look forward to staying again."

"We have gone to the restaurant in years gone by, but this last weekend (Saturday) was a horrible disappointment. I can only guess that there is new management since we last visited. Speaking to several other families, we echoed the same issues: the chicken which had previously been incredible was incredibly dry. One woman claimed her husband took one bite and refused to eat more...it actually hurt his throat. The mashed potatoes were watery .. almost like a soup. (From a box maybe?) The macaroni and cheese seemed like from a box too. We had a group of 3, and looked around and noticed we were being served the same portions of groups of two (except for an extra piece of meat.. tiny piece of ham). In the past we took leftover food home for a snack/light meal, but there wasn't anything left we wanted to take with us. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. We were also surprised (shame on us) not to know that there was a festival going on the same day. If going on a festival day, be prepared to pay 20 to 25 dollars to park anywhere in town."
