Once Upon a Child Valparaiso

"I personally had great experiences with the staff, although when I went they were all adults. They're terribly busy all of the time so I feel a little compassion in regards to that is well deserved. The store is HUGE and has SOOO much to look through and great things as well lots brand new. My only qualms are I went to sell clothes (NB and 0-3 months boy) and they said they weren't excepting clothes because they had too much but when I was looking for BOY clothes 3 months and in the place that would fit my son there were quite literally 10 options and I drove all of the way from Michigan City. While they did take the other two items I had I felt a little lowballed because the bouncer was never before used and combined with the swing I brought I only received $25 to go spend in the store and once again couldnt sell the clothes. I'm going back today and I hope to be able to sell the clothes I have. Definitely worth it if you're going to buy there's plenty to look at (unless you have a baby boy the boy wall was a little dry) UPDATE: Forgot to let everyone know I honestly wouldn't waste your time going to sell here. They don't communicate to each other and spread misinformation to customers. Once again I made the trip all the way from Michigan City after I had called that morning and spoke to what I believe to be a manager on the phone. She confirmed that they would be able to look at my clothes and that they are always buying clothes and I even asked her specifically for my son's size and she said yes there should be no issues they should be buying clothes and she was upset to hear that they didn't buy my clothes before. Well when I got there it was the same girl I saw before and she was very rude and letting us know that no they're not going to buy any of my clothes because they have too many. Once again there was barely anything on the wall that would fit my son and I find it completely outrageous that they say they're not buying clothes because they have too many but there was literally nothing on the outfits wall. I get being overstocked in onesies but I had actual outfits to sell and I find it outrageous that they wouldn't even look at them. Not only that there wasn't a single stain on any of the clothes. I was unhappy with the clothes that I purchased because unfortunately the people who labeled the clothes and put them on the wall are not checking the tags or simply don't know what they're doing when sorting them into sizes. CHECK CLOTHING MANUFACTURER TAGS WHEN BUYING the employees do not care and will just label it whatever they think it is. So unfortunately several of the outfits I purchased my son couldn't even fit because they were too small. WHAT A RIP AND A WASTE OF GAS. It's not that hard to correctly label clothing size especially when the size is inside the collar come on. I called again the next day and manager told me the same thing. All i know i they need to get their crap together!!!! I moved here in May from Charlotte, NC and the OUAC there is way more organized, the clothes get put in the right spot, the employees are careful, the employees are kind, id they do not wish to purchase they give a legitimate reason. Really expected more out of OUAC out here."

"Every time I’m in this store the staff is so abrasive. The final straw was one of the employees snapping at me because I didn’t know if the ‘out’ door was locked. You work at a kids consignment store, calm down. As far as the contents of the store, it’s okay. They barely take any items you bring in but 99% of the stuff they have is stained or very worn. For a second hand store their prices are high."

"The employees working at this location are so extremely rude. Seems like they think they’re too good. But working at this store you should have a little more compassion. I brought my items in a bag because I was unaware that you weren’t supposed to do that. The lady that checked me in told me to not do that again and that I should have known because I sold to them before. But I have never been told that. Next I come back to pick up my items and the lady showed me what they wanted to buy which was good I was fine with it. But I asked if they didn’t need the winter coats and she said no they were stained. And they are not, the coats are new! No they didn’t have tags because my daughter grew out of them before she could wear them and we had taken the tags off when they were bought. I said they are new and she said no they’re not. How are they new with no tags? And I explained and she kept giving attitude about it, so I said ok, you guys keep the money I’ll take my items and just donate them to someone who actually needs them. Keep your lousy $16. Id rather donate to charity."

"I waited 2 hours for them to offer me $12 on brand new items. It's honestly ridiculous. I understand they were busy but I had gotten there 14 minutes after they open."
