"Such a perfect place to enjoy a beautiful warm sunny day in Alabama! Several great places to jump into the water from, although it’s really so important to be careful and mindful as you jump. It’s also important not to DIVE in too, as we saw several people do, as that’s how you can seriously hurt yourself… But a wonderful place to pack a lunch and enjoy some time at this natural swimming hole. You can even bring kids, as there’s a great place to wade in the water upstream of the waterfall. Be warned.. the water is chilly this time of year! But very refreshing! On weekends in the summer, it fills up quickly too. But Hippie Hole is a true hidden gem and always well worth the drive."

"If you're the outdoor type, you will never want to leave. The water is cool and crisp, and the atmosphere is almost mythical. We went mid week early in the day, and we had the place to ourselves for a time. After lunch, other trekkers showed up, but we loved the fellowship. The hike in isn't long, but it's a little treacherous."

"Nice hidden gem! This spot was recommended by a friend, and I drove 2 hours to get here. It was well worth it! A little bit of a hike from the parking lot to the river. I enjoy trails and hikes, so that was added fun for me. It was a great atmosphere with plenty of places for many people to relax and have fun. The current wasn't overwhelming, and there was a good mix of shallow areas and deep areas. The whole area was kept clean and there were many beautiful views. It's a great place to go cool down and escape these hot summer days!"

"Lots of people, but room to spread out. Rocks are slippery. I would recommend a float for the deeper side where people like to jump from. There are plenty of shallow spots for smaller kids to play. It was a short hike from the parking lot. Please take trash and and everything to take down back home with you. There was a noticeable amount of litter there."

"It’s stunning here! The views were awesome from above the bridge. BUT be careful if you do swim. If the current is strong I don’t recommend swimming. There is another area you can swim in but it’s above the waterfalls. The trail to get to the lower part of the river is tough. So wear your hiking boots or tennis shoes. It’s steep but worth it"
