"I attended my granddaughter birthday party there. I didn't even know they had the party rooms. I've only ever been to ballgames there. I think they should have a refrigerator for ice cream, punch etc."
"I know this is gonna sound like the angry parent, because his kid didn’t make a team, but I promise it’s more than that. I am going to give this rec one star for multiple reasons, and my kid will never come back to play for them again… Yes, everyone makes the beginning rec teams, regardless of how good or bad they are, and that’s fine, but at the end of every season comes All Stars, where the coaches usually can select players to be on the Rec’s team. Last year, my kid was learning her sport, and wasn’t the best, however she wasn’t awful. But she practiced at home everyday. Even calling the ball on her own, to make sure she did it on the court. I encouraged her, of course, using the old mantra, “as long as you try and do your best.” Her team, ending up winning the championship game, with a certain coach, coach C. (Remember this name). Fast forward to this year, my kid was placed on a different, much newer team, but she carried her team. Carried it in points scored, saves, and serves for her team. Unfortunately, the rest of her team was really inexperienced, new, or three years, younger for the age range. (They only won 2 games, they entire time). I’m talking 9 year olds, on the 11-12 year old team; and this is where i started to realize, that all these kids who are to young for the age range, are the different coaches children, which shouldn’t of been a big deal, except for the fact, they shouldn’t of been in the age range due to lack of skill and experience. Which you may think is normal for rec league, however…There was another team there that was undefeated. Again, it was coach C. Now, having watched her coach, it’s not her that she’s a master at coaching.. but she has a stacked team of experienced players. Many of them being the same players from my kids team the year before, however despite requesting to have the same coach, this year my kid was denied the opportunity. And was placed on a AWFULLY balanced team. The other teams in the rec league being the same way, being inexperienced, other than coach Cs team… Then comes the problems with All Stars… my kids coach didn’t get to select kids, as per usual, but they had a tryout. And at the this try out there we’re several kids that shouldn’t of been there. You know when a kid is just bad. And then… there were the coaches kids, and some that were on Coach C’s team… But my kid did better than a lot of them, including the coaches kid. I watched the coaches kid, not get the ball over the not a single time. Not a single serve, or anything, but she made the team: as a matter of fact, every kid on coach Cs team made the team, regardless of how poorly they did or how awful their attitudes are.. but I think the part that pissed me off the most, was that I watched coach C, slightly nod and shake her head at the kids who were on her team (including her own daughter) when they were in the front row, and it appeared that whenever she would nod, they wouldn’t go for the ball (even though it should’ve been theirs), sorta forcing the back row the move up, and hit or attempt to hit the ball, causing them to generally miss the ball or to hit it out of bounds, and look bad during the tryout. My kid, hit the ball over the net every time it came her way. Every time. She flubbed up serving a couple of times, but she was super nervous about this tryout, but she was really confident and positive about making the team. She felt really good about her tryout. But the “email” never came. And she didn’t make it. You tell me Coach C, how am I supposed to tell my kid that hard work pays off, when you do what you did, and then it doesn’t. But I guess you helped me teach another lesson, that the world is full of people who will take advantage of relatives in positions of authority, and that it really is all about who you know and who you’re related too. If you’re kid is good at a sport, don’t send them here. The coaches kids come first no matter how good or bad they are. Pay to play for a select team that recognize actual talent."
"It's been a while so time for an update. The Lafayeyye rec department has a lot of sports opportunities for all ages. The rec division teams are also a lot of fun to participate in. Depending on the season, your kids can enjoy soccer, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and baseball. The fees are relatively cheap, and sports cycle on a quarterly basis."
"The fire works were good, the band sucked and the sound people were worse. Touted as a free event but $5 for parking. Y'all attract large/huge crowds for your events but parking is ridiculous! Many food vendors not wearing gloves for getting food. Or the cashier taking cash then getting food bare handed."
"Really beautiful to walk through the municipal park in the morning! Very clean and well kept. There are trails that go around the park and definitely worth a visit. There are also many benches that you can use to rest and would definitely be a great place for BBQs and community picnics. They also have restroom facilities available."
