"This gym is going down. The literally came in painted the walls red lol. Half the equipment is broken. When are they going to actually invest in upgrades? The Push room is where the money went I guess. For the monthly fee I just expect more. Missing Golds, time to switch to Evans Golds Gym"

"There was a mix-up on a my membership agreement. I started to receive emails, and calls indicating I was past due on a payment. I called and spoke with a member of the staff at Max Fitness of Augusta and explain the situation. The person told me they would have to speak to the supervisor and they would get back with me. I spoke with the person again the next day and was told my membership was in fact canceled and three days later I received an email with the cancellation agreement. I have read the reviews where people were having difficulty getting their membership canceled or other Financial issues. I had no problems whatsoever. It seems to me that if you are in the right, it will be handled correctly. As I was writing this review, I received a phone call from their collection agency indicating that everything was settled and that I was not responsible for any payments. Well done thank you!!"

"Quite literally the worst gym in the Augusta area. They will scam you into continuing your contract after paying it off. Paid off the rest of my contract in full $188, and the manager said that I was good to go and that my contract would no longer continue when those months I paid for ended. Fast forward 7 months later they sent me to a collections agency tanking my credit 45 points stating that I haven’t paid my dues. The manager knew that a verbal cancellation of contract wasn’t solid but still acted like it was because he knew I didn’t know and would make more money scamming that way."

"Childcare staff is great. Check in staff great. However Barry whom I think is a manager or supervisor is very rude and disrespectful. Didn’t mind telling me to find a new gym. I plan on going further with how I’ve been treated as a customer by him. And I would like to add I’ve been with Golds gym for over 10 yrs and max since it opened and never not once had an issue with anyone at this gym. He is the only one that has treated me like this. And he did is as if he knew nothing would become of it. It’s great I have proof."

"I would like to start by saying, I actually enjoy max fitness and the child care is Heaven sent. However, most of the comments are the complete truth from my experience and what I’ve seen throughout the gym… As far as membership cancellation, I have seen a select staff member get a little spicy with someone who wanted to cancel membership. I do understand the policy that was signed. However, the review regarding max fitness NOT making you aware that it is a 2 year contract is also true. I personally don’t plan on cancelling but they did not mention to me that the contract is in fact a 2 year contract. It’s not an issue for me, I repair credit for a living so, not worried about it hitting my credit if it does or if I need to cancel. Now MY ISSUE is definitely the cleanliness throughout the gym. It’s HORRIBLE AND FILTHY. This alone will be the reason I cancel membership or order a stop payment through my bank! I have seen the same trash in the sauna for 2 weeks today. The same water bottle on the counter for a week now, paper towels shortage inside the female locker room and throughout the gym. I have witnessed staff sitting up front getting their hair braided and totally ignoring the cleanliness of the facility. I have witness staff sit up front, talk, play, and just chill and ignore the cleaning duties. The child care is definitely amazing and they take very well care of my little one while there. But the cleanliness is definitely what I’m afraid of for my little one. I can say the child care center inside is ALWAYS clean from what the eyes can see and the girls are amazingly nice and sweet with the babies/kids. However, the cleanliness everywhere else should definitely be unacceptable especially with this being the gym and technically bodily fluids are dripped throughout the entire facility. A clean facility should be one of the main priorities!"
