"If there is a negative stars I would give this company as much as possible negative. Their driver and terminal communicators are rude and not helpful at all. We always order for inside delivery and they always ask us to unload from truck...."
"It was the worst delivery experience I have ever had, nothing good to say about it! Extremely unreasonable and unprofessional! Receiving lady was rude. Hope I’ll never comeback here again in the future. No overnight parking for outside truckers"
"Saw eight terminal managers come and go. Six were bad. Their boss was no better. Unsupervised AM dock men, a few acting like children, playing games to pass the time. some just plain dangerous, favored and protected by management. Politics in play. A comp scam was revealed then tolerated. Seen one man destroy freight daily, seemed like a joke to him. 45min long 10 min breaks every day. for them anyways, but it didn't really matter because they wouldn't be doing anything useful otherwise. At least the freight was safer with them gabbing in the break room. 5AM a cup of coffee flies across the dock. This thing is really moving. 50 feet away it hits a manifest board by a dock door with a bang. The AM dispatcher is writing on it. I don't believe he was the intended target. It just misses the back of his head. Cap comes off and coffee sprays everywhere, incl. all over the front of his white shirt. He just went back inside. Nothing said. (between term managers then so he was the boss, an acting TM, without the pay of course, otherwise a smart and competent dispatcher, just didn't have time or interest and sit on dock and baby sit a few clowns. Or perhaps he didn't feel safe). Another day- forklift goes by towing a hand truck with a rope, man sitting on it, getting towed over an improvised ramp (piece of plywood with box of freight under it). Doesn't work. Things falls over. Or man has a big box on forks, pushes it into the ROP of another forklift in lame attempt to push man off his seat. And junior men using pallet jacks because senior men claim the forklifts early for use as lounge chairs, then sit side by side jawing all AM knowing that in a few hours the pedal men start and are self motivated... All the wasted time means the freight is late. The road - after the wait it's hurry up, w/trucks turned down to save fuel and governors set at 62. Max'd out legal driving or on duty common, no consideration for bad weather or traffic...Just fix the log and will be legal... And better not take any breaks because someone needs the frt yesterday. Bad place if you like to work. Other upstate terminals were better. PA seemed OK. Saw many good things but that doesn't make up for a daily circus. Worst part- management knew and didn't seem to care."
"Very good pay, benefits & weekends off, but nothing else about this place is good. Equipment is old, outdated, poorly maintained, and filthy on the inside. Mechanics were understaffed in the terminal I worked in and many of the same old trucks and trailers are in the out of service lot often for the same repairs that were just made. Because of the union environment many senior drivers treat Jr. drivers like garbage. Many guys act like macho men and everyone seems to only look out for themselves. There are some good guys working here just looking to make a living, but it seems like the union environment breeds laziness and draws in people of low integrity and moral character. Some senior drivers use their seniority to subsidize their laziness. They can be the worst performing driver in the barn, e.g. call in sick because of getting drunk the night before, refuse to do certain work, etc.. yet, because of their seniority they'll be given preference and a steady bid over someone who works twice as hard. Incompetent management, constantly passing the buck for their failures. Complete lack of moral-character & integrity. I don't think I've worked with so many lowlifes in 30 yrs in the labor force. It seem as if every other word out of most of the truck driver's and management's mouth is an F-bomb or reference to a perverted joke just so they can appear " edgy " Routes & Pickups are poorly scheduled to drivers within the areas. On board communication systems in trucks for loaded and empty calls are horrible & constantly breaking. In the winter time the dock is colder than the outside temp. No training, yet you'll be expected to perform in a short time as if you'd been there for yrs. When you start it's very hard to get a steady bid. You'll bounce around forever until someone quits, get's fired, or retires. You have both the Teamsters dues and a 15% give back because yellow owns them and negotiated a contract for a give back a few years back. In spite of these dues the pay is still very good and other than benefits and weekends off is the only good thing I have to say about this place. While I did make some good money when they did work me full time, the pay was not worth the stress you had to deal with because of some of the people you had to work with. For me the most enjoyable part of the day was when you went out on the road to do deliveries and punched out at the end of the day. While I think most of the problems in this place are just the nature of this business, I think many of the problems could be alleviated with a management shakeup. Arrogance seems to radiate from the top in this company like they can do no wrong and the bottom line is the bottom line, regardless of who they have to run through the meat grinder in the process. less"
"Filled out application and had interview. Accepted position offered by Mark(terminal manager). Background check pass and passed drug test. Put in two weeks notice at my present job. Got a start date on June 19th. Got a call from Mark saying he can't hire me. He made the choice and his reason he didnt have one. He knew I had plenty of experience, all my endorsement, background check was good, and clean driving record. I was told by Mark when he first called me he told me he was told not to get into why I was hired and then why I couldn't start. Then when I called to find out reason a week later he said it was his decision. Obviously marking down on my application not to call or contact my present company and Mark disrespected my wishes. Thankfully I still have my current job! I will say Mark is very disrespectful on the phone. Hanging up on someone poor management skills and rude. I'm glad to say I didn't go to New Penn in Syracuse,ny. I can't imagine having a rude and disrespectful terminal manager like Mark."
