"I Love this place bc I grew up there, I lived right above the store, the owner was our landlord (RIP Bobby n Luisa) My mom baby sat Roberta. It's the ONLY grocery store in the neighborhood. If anyone knows or grew up in the Soundview n Clasonpoint (Gildersleeve) area knows how different n special that area was. Growing up there I felt like I lived in an island bc it's so separated, only houses no buildings, had a charm n Innocence about it however NOW its become over populated with new houses n Condos. To my surprise Roberta was closed, I spoke to the owner Bobby Jr. n he said that it was under renovation till May, 2019 however I dont know how true that was. Roberta's was the spot to not only shop but meet up with friends. Seeing it closed was sad, the neighborhood felt like a ghost town. I wondered how the community felt when they needed food or supplies. Anyway once in awhile my brother n I go to the park by the water, we sit, relax, remember our childhood, where we can see waves, boats the bridges, its beautiful, nice place to visit if you around the area. For anyone reading this n grew up there in the 80's/90's probably knew me n my brother understands how special it was...Bronx girl for life!"
