About the Business

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village is a museum and tourist attraction located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road in Amherst, New York, United States. Our institution is dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting the agricultural history and rural heritage of the Buffalo Niagara region.

As we prepare for our move to Amherst Central Park, our regular visitor hours will be temporarily suspended in 2024. However, we will still offer access and unique experiences for the community throughout the year, including events like the Maple Festival, Preservation Day, and Halloween Trick or Treat. Education programs such as Pioneer Day Camp, Workshops, and News & Brews will also continue.

We are excited to bring BNHV's programs out into the community, offering artisan demonstrations, agriculture-related STEM activities, and more at farmer's markets, community events, and partner organizations. Follow us on social media to stay updated on our whereabouts!

Our most popular membership includes free event admission for two adults and all children, as well as free general admission and other benefits. Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village is supported by the Town of Amherst, the New York Council on the Arts, Erie County, and our members and friends.

Please note that the 2023 General Admission Season ended on September 30. Visit our FAQ page for any questions you may have about our institution.

"First time going. We brought our 2.5 year old for the Halloween trick or treating event. He had a blast. It only took us about 30 minutes to walk through the whole village but I imagine it would take longer if it got busy. All of the volunteers and staff were very welcoming. Looking forward to going again when we can focus on the history rather than the candy."

"My wife and I came for the Maple Festival in March 2019. The museum has a lot of promise and it is wonderful to see so many buildings from Western New York’s past preserved in one place. Definitely looking forward to what is next at the village!"

"This is a good museum if you know what to expect. I had the idea that this would be a village with dozens of buildings to see. This place has only 12 structures and of those, a few have little or no description. They had, for example, a blacksmith shop with no descriptions and no one inside to explain or demonstrate. On the other hand the museum has a nice indoor museum with great displays of radio, the prohibition and a wonderful Erie Canal room that's great for kids."
