"Have been on vacation out of town with my girlfriend and this is the second gym that I have been too and what stuck out most was the instructor who led the class. So humble and willing to share information. Thankyou for having me “This man (Alexander The Great) has conquered the world! What have you done?” The philosopher replied without an instant’s hesitation, “I have conquered the need to conquer the world"

"Not every gym feels super welcoming or comfortable for female students, but NOVA is both! There is a women's class every week where our group of female students develop our skills and support each other. We are always excited to welcome new women into our sessions. The mixed classes are also comfortable, with great instruction, drilling and rolling. Whether a woman in interested in becoming a BJJ tournament athlete or just interested in training self-defense techniques, the NOVA coaches and training partners create a safe and encouraging environment."

"If you’re someone who likes to research what to expect before you try something new, this is the review for YOU. I’ve already done the research and Nova BJJ is the best jiu jitsu school for women in Rochester. They are the only school in the area that teach a regular Women’s BJJ class, every Tuesday night. Nova BJJ has a strong community of women who regularly practice BJJ and attend classes throughout the week. Nova BJJ also has a variety of adult gi and no-gi classes at the fundamental and more advanced levels in addition to a robust kids program. Every member is welcoming, non-judgmental, and supportive. Nova BJJ excels at making an intimidating sport approachable and accessible for everyone. The team mindset here creates an environment where you can come in as a newbie, without a clue how to move your body, and feel like everyone has your back (but not “taking” your back, yet, ha!) and will work with you to help you understand. That same team mindset will also push you out of your comfort zone and challenge you to reach new levels of fitness and confidence. For those who want to compete, Nova BJJ offers an intense competition class and opportunities to help you prepare for that endeavor. The coaches are knowledgable and patient and the upper belts teach you to work through your rolls. Overall, for anyone looking to try BJJ or continue your journey with BJJ, Nova is the best place around to give it a go!"

"Nova Jiu-Jitsu is a fantastic place to start and/or resume your BJJ journey. I have a few perspectives to give for people interested in Nova BJJ. 1) Kids Nova Jiu-Jitsu. I have had 2 children (8 and 12 years old) in the kids classes both of them now have over 20 hours. The kids classes are awesome! The Instructors are top notch. They are patient, treat the kids respectfully, and are extremely skilled. Honestly I couldn't ask for a better kids program. 2) The Adult Nova Jiu-Jitsu. I have well over 20 hours in so far and again the classes are great. The instructors are very knowledgeable, friendly, patient. Its a great atmosphere to learn BJJ and all the other students have been great as well, very friendly and welcoming. 3) Women's Nova Jiu-Jitsu. My 12 year old daughter did attend a women's class (I stayed and watched) and as with everything so far it was great. All the ladies were welcoming and friendly as were the instructors. 4) Price. The kids membership prices were some of the best Ive found when I was looking. I finally decided on a family plan and that is a great price and well worth it IMO. 5) When i was searching for a BJJ facility I definitely considered the overall experience level of the instructors. There are a good many very experienced black belts. There is a wide array of other instructors that are also very knowledgeable with some of them having Judo backgrounds as well. Now all that being said keep in mind a few things. It can feel like your 1st few classes have a steep learning curve. You do kinda get thrown right into the fire, this isn't anything abnormal, its just the way BJJ is. The instructors, again are very patient, and definitely are there to help you through drills, warmups, etc. Also, BJJ in general, there are times where you will leave class with a few bumps and wake up to a few bruises. Again this isn't strange its just the nature of BJJ and all the full contact that's involved. If your not in shape, you will get in shape...if you think your in shape, you will find out fast that BJJ introduces a whole new level of fitness for your body. All in all I'm very happy I settled on Nova Jiu-Jitsu and I feel like I made the right decision. My experience so far has been awesome and I don't see that changing."

"This is the first gym I’ve ever trained at and after a short time at a separate gym in Florida I realized the atmosphere here is probably the only reason I decided to stick with Jiu Jitsu. Everyone at the facility is very helpful and kind but also critical when it is needed as well as extremely knowledgeable of their craft. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to learn the martial art and current practitioners of any skill level, Nova is a great place for anyone interested in Jiu Jitsu."
