"This has to be one of the best gyms on Long Island. My son has been going here for a year and a half and loves it. Sensei Mark is excellent with children and just people in general. If you a looking for somewhere to train personally, or for your children, don't even waste time looking elsewhere. Sensei Mark and his staff are among the best out there in the industry!"

"For a little backround, I trained for 15 years at a previous school, primarily for self defense. Eventually, my interests went less into self-defense and the traditional arts for the thrill of fighting in the ring. I left my school, wandering about in search for a new school. Every day I went to the gym I would walk past OMMA, interested, but never seeing anybody inside. One day, be is chance or fate, I found people training hard inside. When I saw the way these martial artists, these warriors, trained, I knew that I had to give it a shot. I was greeted by Mark O'Mard, owner of the school. He gave an aura of professionalism, humbleness and respect I've seen from very few people in my lifetime. We talked and eventually, I signed up, explaining I wished to fight, to which he agreed. Sensei Mark, Coach "G" and Coach "Angel", alongside all my fellow brothers and sisters, broke me down, getting rid of bad habits and taught me a valuable lesson in humility I've long forgotten - no matter how good you may be, there are always people out there who are superior. Do not under-credit yourself, but remember hubris is a horrid vice. Eventually, I had my first fight after maybe ~5 months or so. It didn't end well, and I made many mistakes in regards to training, nutrition, etc. For a long time, I had lost faith in myself, having dreamt to fight for so long, only to squander it all. Despite the setback, OMMA always believed in me. I reviewed, learned and continued to improve with their help. Even when I still had moments of not believing in myself, I look towards my brothers and sisters who saw what I was capable of, and they kept me going strong, even when my legs had long gave out. After long consideration, in late June/early July I asked Sensei Mark if I could fight again in October. What followed was the most grueling and excruciating 4 months I've ever experienced, training 6 days a week, 2 times a day at times while juggling school and personal life. Eventually, the time came and I put it all out there in the ring, fighting not just for the sake of fighting but fighting to prove to myself, my school and everybody watching how far I've come with a glorious victory. Sensei O'mard is truly a man of character. I've grown so much as a person in 1 year of being in this school than I can think of my entire life. Apologies for this being a bit long of a review, but know this - OMMA is a school like no other, teaching valuable lessons inside and outside the ring and mat, and no matter how young or old you are, you will come out a better person. If they could transform a kid like me who grew up thinking they were worth less than worthless into a workhorse, imagine what limits they can help you push through, be it physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Few things in life are promised, but if you're reading this - I promise you won't find any school with as much drive, determination and heart as OMMA."
