"Took my cockatiel here with a small mass near her eye. I was terrified about such a little bird under anesthesia (especially after a different vet told me she would surely die at her age). The vet and techs here were so comforting and confident that I trusted them immediately. Her surgery was such a success that the incision was so tiny it didn't even need stitches. Now my bird that I've raised for over 13 years is happily eating, drinking, and preening herself mere hours after surgery. As someone who used to be a vet tech, this is definitely the place to go for quality care. Other pros: - were able to schedule an urgent appointment visit same day - emailed me after her initial appointment asking how she was reacting to her medicine - was just a quarter of the cost for surgery as what another vet quoted me - super sweet and genuinely seem to love their patients - even gave my bird some treats after surgery Thank you to the team for saving my baby!"
"One star is way too generous for this clinic. I scheduled an appointment three weeks before the consultation date to obtain an international health certificate for my dog. Being from Brazil and having no one to leave my dog with, my only choice is to travel with her. During the scheduling call, I explained my needs, and the scheduler set an appointment for 10 days before my travel date (the maximum allowed). For the health certificate, you only need three things: rabies vaccination, internal and external deworming (two pills). Despite having done this process more than 13 times in various states, including NY, my recent visit last Friday was a disaster. Upon arrival, I was informed that the scheduled vet, Lauren Wisser, was not there. No prior notice was given. Instead, I was rudely told that if I wanted to see her, I must reschedule for the following week, despite the 10-day requirement. I asked if the covering vet could handle it, since USDA accreditation is necessary, and specifically requested the use of the VECHS portal, to which he agreed. After spending 30 minutes with my dog and making me wait outside the clinic (due to their policy, you cannot view whatever they are doing with your dog while in their care), they handed me a bill, which I paid, totaling over $100. They instructed me to mail the health certificate to Albany, NY, unnecessarily, as it can be done online through the VECHS portal. When I tried to discuss this with the vet, I was told it wasn't "clinic policy," and I needed to mail it. The clinic manager, Dawn St. James, was extremely rude, repeating it was not their "policy," despite USDA recommendations. I paid over $200 to overnight it to Albany (with a prepaid shipping label included for return), only to receive an email four days later stating the certificate was incorrect. It took the clinic a whole day to respond, saying they would correct it, but I would have to ship it via snail mail again. With only three days left before my travel, they showed no concern. The clinic owner, Lauren Wisser, and Dawn were both extremely rude when I asked for a refund, since they did not provide the service I needed and wanted to find another vet that would. After persisting, they told me my dog was banned me from the clinic (as if I would ever go back to a place like this) and Mrs. Wisser accused me of "not letting them know about my requirement for an international travel certificate beforehand," which is absurd, as I specifically asked for it when scheduling, given the need for specific certifications. Not to mention, they would not listen to anything I said and kept repeating that they could not do it online via the portal because of their "policy." Now, without a health certificate, I cannot travel with my pet and must leave her in a pet hotel, incurring additional expenses. I plan to sue the clinic for this trouble and the money spent. It could have easily been avoided. I agree with other reviews that they make things harder for people of color, treating us differently. This is a xenophobic and dishonest clinic. Don’t go there unless you are a white American that doesn’t mind dealing with this type of people."
"We needed to put our 15 yr old puppy put to sleep peacefully and wanted her to be in her own home and comfortable. This vet required everyone to be vaccinated with a vaccine that does not protect you from the virus nor does it make you immune from spreading the virus. I would never trust a veterinarian who believes in this dogma."
"Cannot say enough amazing things about this place! I found Geneseo Veterinary Care after my hedgehog Petrie needed emergency care that her primary vet was unable to perform. They were able to take her on as a new patient immediately. Dr. Wisser worked with my veterinarian back home and performed further testing and was able to schedule her surgery right away. Petrie was found to have an endometrial polyp and her extremely delicate surgery was handled flawlessly. Petrie had boundless energy immediately after and there were no complications post-op. From the reception staff, to the vet techs, to Dr. Wisser herself, this team was worth every penny (very fair pricing, too) and our drive of 2 hours each way. They took the best care of my little girl and gave me their time and patience in explaining everything and answering any questions I had (there were a lot). This team is made up of nothing but angels. To Dr. Wisser and all the girls there, Petrie and I are forever grateful."
"My cat was experiencing a non-life threatening medical emergency. Our normal vet in Rochester could not see him but urged us to seek same day treatment. I am not exaggerarting when I say I called every vet and emergency clinic in Rochester, none of which were able to see us. So stressful! Thankfully, Geneseo was able to squeeze us in. I will say I was taken aback when the staff asked for a $250 deposit over the phone prior to my arrival. I've never paid more than a $150 fee for an emergency visit and normally it's due upon completion of the appointment, not prior. Other reviews mentioned this - which I read after the fact - but the highest I saw was $150. I paid the fee as there were no other feasible options at the time, then made the 30 minute drive to the clinic. Aside from that, we had a positive experience. The staff members were great - my cat got car sick on the ride over and they graciously cleaned him, his blanket, carrier, and even gave us a clean towel to make his trip home more comfortable. Dr. Wisser was very kind and made swift work to resolve the issue, for which I am grateful. Despite the cost, I am relieved to know my cat is safe and healthy."
