"Finally got a table here and can’t wait to come back. Exactly the sort of dining experience that excites jaded NYC diners and totally understandable that it was impossible to get a reservation here for months. Bonnie’s is a sophisticated, Cantonese-ish take on American classics - all packing serious inventiveness and flavor punch. Don’t miss the MSG martini, the Sundae is incredible, and the rib sandwich is a must."
"Where do I even start? The service was so bad that I decided to write my first Google review. For over an hour, we did not receive our food. For a party of two, we only ordered an app, a noodle, and the BK Rib. We felt forgotten, and mind you, we were at the bar with literally two bartenders looking at us throughout the night. The placed was not filled to capacity. The kitchen felt bad for us and brought over the tinned fish appetizer with crackers because the food didn't come out. For another 30 minutes, we still didn’t receive our food. For the hype that was given for this restaurant, we felt that this food was extremely mid and the service was absolutely unacceptable. How many clout chasers does it take to properly run a restaurant? When we asked for the check, one of the bartenders immediately gave us the dessert menu… waited another 10 minutes to get the check and the bartender comped our drinks. The only drinks we ordered were tea and a non-alcoholic beverage. If we had ordered 2 martinis each would he have comped the drinks then? I think not.. Save your time and money and support local businesses elsewhere."
"Everything was fantastic. Our server was incredible and met the vibe of our table perfectly. They recommended a few plates and every one delivered! Great wine selection - great vibe. Definitely gotta try the cha sui McRib - woah. And make sure you save room for the sundae. I will definitely be back."
"I really loved the creativeness of the food and drink menu. As a Cantonese person, I thought the menu was fun and the flavors worked well together. The highlights for me would be the Char Siu Mcrib, the Cacio e Pepe, Pan Fried Chuerng Fun and the Penicillin cocktail. I would definitely come back to try the rest of the cocktails as I saw a lot of interesting flavors and infusions you don’t see at much places. The few downsides of Bonnie’s were the portion size to the price of the dishes. I don’t mind paying more for an elevated Cantonese cuisine but a few dishes felt a little on the smaller side. The main thing I disliked about Bonnie’s was they enforced a mandatory 5% kitchen staff tip on the bill which isn’t including the tip for the wait staff. Although I don’t mind paying staff the pay they deserve, it felt forced upon at the end of the meal. I think it might have been better as a suggested tip for kitchen staff or in general split a percentage of the tip with the wait staff. I can see a lot of customers being turned off by this. I still tipped the wait staff a proper tip as I didn’t want them to be underpaid because of this policy but it ended a meal on a low note for me"
