"The catch-22 of local business is if you don't shop there, they can't compete. You get fitted, have a knowledgeable owner and quality products. Service is a dying trend because these one star reviewers are killing it. I was happy with my service, product and price. Took off 1 star because a vacuum and few light bulbs wouldn't hurt."

"Went into Richard York on Small Business Saturday this year after seeing some advertisements and while walking around Patchogue. What an awesome find. I had been in the market for a new pair of sneakers as my current Skechers had worn very thin. They have a very nice selection, and what seemed to be a never ending warehouse of goods that they grab from in the basement. As soon as I walked in, I got a personal greeting from the owner despite the other customers already in the store. He asked what I was looking for, but was not at all pushy. He sat down and measured my foot and helped me figure out why I had a hard time narrowing in on the perfect size. He brought me out a number of sneakers to try (he made many trips!), and then personally tied each of them... He talked through the pros and cons of different styles and helped me arrive at a good choice. I also picked up an amazingly warm pair of slippers while I was there too, just in time for these cold winter nights. What is most surprising is that everyone in the store at the time was getting this same individualized attention. Great service, great products, and really wonderful experience shoe shopping. Will definitely go back again when in the market again for dressier shoes."
