"I have been going to this office for 10 years, and every year it has slowly been worse. From seeing different doctors to the front desk being completely unorganized with their scheduling, it is a circus. If you have an emergency, do not go here. I was told to come in and the doctor was going to see me, to get there and wait 30 minutes just to be told to return later in the day. FOR AN EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT."
"I liked this place when Dr. Smith was there. Everything went smoothly and I didn’t wait forever in the waiting room. I guess she was the only one holding this place together, because now this place is terrible. I made my annual appointment in August 2023 for October 31, only to have the appointment canceled on me because “it’s Halloween and we have kids and want to close early.” Halloween was on October 31 when I made the appointment, as it has been for centuries, so why schedule an appointment for that day if you can't be bothered to have your office open? So I had to rearrange my life to accommodate their Halloween celebration. Then I had an abnormal pap and had to go there to discuss it with the PA. I took the morning off of work and figured I’d be back in time. I was almost late to work because I waited 45 minutes in the waiting room. And there was a dude straight-up vaping in the waiting room and nobody did anything. Because of the abnormal pap I had to schedule a procedure, and I did so for a month out on a day I knew I would be off from work, because I’m a responsible person and I have a job where people rely on me, so I can’t just take days off willy-nilly. The day before my appointment, they call to cancel for some reason (I was on a public bus so I couldn’t hear the reason), and because this doctor only does this procedure on Wednesdays, and because the doctor was taking vacation, I had to reschedule for two weeks later and take the day off work. Finally, I had my appointment with Dr. Papapetrou who was nice and professional. However, the office staff told me that she would be an hour late to the office. What they didn't tell me was that there were 2 people ahead of me, so what was supposed to be a 1 hour wait ended up being a 2.5 hour wait just to get a 15 minute procedure. And I needed to get fasting bloodwork, so I couldn't even eat anything. I scheduled a telephone consultation to go over the results two weeks later. The receptionist told me that the PA Dina would call me between 2 PM and 5 PM, which worked out for me. I got an automated email saying that she would call at 5 PM. The PA called me at 9 AM. I called back twice when I had a spare moment and was able to talk to a person once. The receptionist told me that Dina would call me back before 5. She did not. I called the office at 5:25 to speak to someone and the recording said they were closed. But this place closes at 6, so how is that possible? I guess time doesn't mean anything to these people. I pushed whatever key to talk to a person, and the receptionist said that Dina wasn't there and that Dr. Shah would call me "in a few minutes" (I've been waiting for 20 and haven't gotten the call yet). Then I get an email confirming my "NEW" appointment two days later with Dina. She didn't cancel with me and just decided to dip on her responsibility and thought she could reschedule me without my permission. I also received a bill of almost $300 for the procedure because they sent my stuff to a lab that was out of network, and they did not give me a choice of which lab to use, so they purposely screwed me over with that. I wonder if they get a kickback from the lab. I initially felt bad giving a one star review and changed it after I spoke with the office manager, who made me feel better about my procedure being rescheduled. But now I'm changing it back to 1 star, which is still generous. There have just been way too many problems with this place. My appointments are for routine things that have nothing to do with pregnancy. Would you trust people, who don't call you back, can't tell time, and cancel appointments on you for no good reason and without notifying you ,with anything regarding your future child? I don't think so."
"I have gone there for many years and the customer service AND atmosphere have gone DOWN a lot. Although the doctors, PA's, NP's, and Ultrasound Tech(s) are good and nice, MOST of the office staff/secretaries are NOT. Many of the office staff members are rude, deceptive and dishonest. They LIE straight to your face, and the ones around them will NOT speak up against it. They, also, talk about you in another language, RIGHT in FRONT of YOU! On the phone, they cut you off while you're talking, and DON'T listen to you. Some of the ISSUES with the Clifton/1033 Rt. 46 OB/GYN. office location are: -There is NO or almost NO toilet paper in the restroom near the exam rooms; - There was/is NO toilet SEAT on the toilet in the bathroom in the waiting area (as of last week); - The office manager almost NEVER returns/answers calls or is NOT available; - Very LONG WAIT times (Almost ALWAYS); - (But) The office staff/secretaries will LIE to you and send you away, if you are LATE (EVEN IF you call & tell them you're running late because something came up); - Over-crowded waiting room; - Long WAIT times IN THE EXAM ROOMS (too), before being seen by the Dr./PA/NP; - No office email address available for patients to send messages; - The fax machines are almost always off; - "No one checks the fax machine" if it ever is on ; - If you fax the office manager or surgical coordinator, they will turn their fax machine off WHILE your fax is going through; - There is NO one to complain to (and if you do complain to someone, nothing is done and/or NO improvements are made; - NO papers/forms in the office's suggestion box; - NO one responds to the messages you leave via the Patient Portal; - Nearly NO one in the office can explain/answer anything about the Patient Portal; - Something seems to always be missing or broken in the bathroom near the exam rooms; -There is usually a 2 week wait (minimum) to be seen by the doctor; and - The billing department is rarely available to answer questions. For those reasons (and more), I plan to find a new doctor and doctor's office. I do NOT recommend Clifton OB/GYN at 1033 Rt. 46 in Clifton, NJ because the overall quality of care is NOT very good ANYMORE."
"The worst gynecologist office in NJ. They don’t care about the well being of their patients, They only care about getting paid. They don’t call you to give you test results, and when you call them you never get a response and It’s impossible to get a call back. The front desk staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional. I don’t know why any woman would trust these doctors/nurses. They also have terrible turn over rate so it’s a revolving door with staff. Avoid at all costs."
"It took me a few months to write this but I needed time to process and I knew for our family's sake and the baby it was only fitting to respect my unborn baby's life by making people aware. This was supposed to be my second child. got married a year ago. When we found out we were ecstatic. I checked with my insurance for an OB and thought this one was highly recommended. First day I saw so many crying, frustrated expecting mothers because the front desk staff is deplorable. Every appointment I went to the first complaint I observed by many was that the phones just weren't on. Red flag I didn't consider I was so excited. They kept telling people there was nothing they could do it was a call service issue. They were actually confident with that answer and it didn't improve in the time I was a patient there at any point! The techs and assistants in the back are highly qualified but it doesn't matter because youre just so upset by the time you get back there. I wanted to give them a chance because I'm familiar with the ups and downs of the medical field. We have good days with all wellness checks and some days everyone is critical, all bad news it just is what it is. This office makes you wait two hours in the waiting room no matter how early you check in just to talk to someone for a few minutes. They scheduled my first appointment with a doctor who was on vacation. Why? I will never understand and I probably would have gotten written up for something so irresponsible at my office. I only saw my doctor once? Twice maybe during my pregnancy. Also the first appointment I was immediately apologized to because the girl that scheduled me ONLY scheduled me for an ultrasound. I pretty much got lucky I was able to see a P.A. that day because a technician intervened. She knew that was wrong. I will always wonder if there's something he would have caught if he saw me from the beginning or if they scheduled me with an Ob that was actually available at the time. We'll never know and from my understanding, based on labs and scans there was nothing that could have been done to prevent this, however, when I was miscarrying (which I didn't understand this was happening at the time) I called with heavy symptoms of lethargy and head pain, there were no options for me. No availability. I was told to just wait until the doctor was in next or go to the ER. I didn't feel comfortable with that so I went to my primary doctor, who can only check on my health. Not the babies, so we didn't know I was miscarrying. He felt so bad because there are really so many limitations with medicine in pregnancy. He Couldn't understand why it was possible that the front desk staff felt so confident that I could wait. Are there no other doctors in the practice? But anyway there was no support and while they weren't seeing me I lost my baby. I went back for follow up labs and when we went to set up an appointment for another recheck to discuss results, the ignorant front desk staff had never blocked off their schedules for the holiday of 4th of July. I didn't question it because some offices stay open and I even said, "Wow, how convenient!" And she said "Yup we're OB, always here for you guys. No days off" so I thought again let's try to give them a chance and then I got a voicemail that the appointment has to be rescheduled due to the fact it was booked on their break in error. I was done. I scheduled elsewhere I don't feel comfortable doing anything in that office with that irresponsible front desk staff. They only see the work in front of them, they don't dig deeper to make things happen, which as medical professionals, we are ALL morally obligated to do. This was a prime example of what happens with careless practice. Maybe I still would have miscarried. I will never know, but I do know that this practice didn't do their best to make sure I didn't leave without being able to rule out that they did everything they could for me and my baby, which is their whole job."
