About the Business

Bar Camillo

Bar Camillo is a cozy Roman bar and restaurant located in the vibrant neighborhood of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Specializing in pinsa, an ancient style of Roman pizza made with organic wheat and rice flours, the crust is lighter and crispier than traditional Neapolitan pizza. Topped with a variety of traditional ingredients and imported mozzarella, each pinsa is baked in Bar Camillo's specially designed oven.

In addition to pinsa, the menu offers a selection of Roman antipasti and classic dishes such as baked cacio e pepe. The beverage program pays homage to Count Camillo Negroni with various negroni variations, along with wines on tap, craft beer, spritzes, aperitivi, whiskey, and amari.

Join us at Bar Camillo for a taste of Rome in the heart of Brooklyn.

"My lord, I stopped here quickly while passing through Brooklyn and I was blown away. Service was impeccable, it was like a small town coffee shop yet a bar. Everyone knew each other, and it was just so chic and nice. Food was insanely good and had some of the best pizza ever in my life. As someone with a huge appreciation for pistachio ice cream, theirs ranks second on my favorite pistachio ice cream ever ! And I’ve had a lot lol. For only $27 (before tip) this was amazing, you can’t find that price anywhere anymore."

"The best place; a neighborhood gem. We frequent this spot and also had our wedding reception here—they took incredible care of us and our guests. Management was extremely responsive and easy to work with in renting the venue. Our friends and family still talk about the incredible food, drinks, and service! Overall, 10/10—and shoutout to Anna!"

"Bar camillo is a great spot for a drink! They have many different spritz and Negronis available, along with a knowledgeable bar staff. I ate the focaccia bread as a starter and I was not really impressed. It was Bitter from the raw rosemary and under salted. I tried their salad and that was lovely. Nice place to stop by if you are in bed stuy"

"Small place with an intimate setting but also a bit confined, good food but needs more staff. Upon arrival we were told it would be a five minute wait, but waited more like 12-15 minutes which is okay but we weren't offered to sit at the bar. Just seems like due to low staff options, customer service was lacking. Also the Camillo Old Fashion wasn't prepared like a traditional "old fashion"."

"So I’ve been three times in two weeks-alone each time: one for take-out, one seated outside in front and once on the back patio. Speaking of the patio, someone from Vogue recently gave a review, which was good for publicity, but didn’t share the details about what makes Bar Camillo a gem. The staff is friendly, inclusive, and hospitable with a hip, modern Italian vibe. Meantime the menu is rooted in tradition-the ancient style “pinsa” or Roman pizza with fermented dough and traditional toppings, eggplant parmigiana (which tasted just like my nonna’s or as good as any I’ve had in Italy) and traditional pastas. Some innovative cocktails at reasonable prices, a selection of good wines and beers and you really can’t go wrong here. Take-out lasagna was delicious and still crisp on the edges. I showed up in the rain and asked for a martini while I waited, which they got a kick out of. The sidewalk seating is stylish with covered separates “covid booths” and a couple of high-top tables. Patio also dent cozy and is mostly enclosed with a fabric ceiling, plants, and a natural wood and brick vibe. Come here for a cocktail and a snack (I recommend a negroni and the anchovies in buttered bread-the famed Recca anchovies of Sicily) or split a pinsa and a glass of wine with a friend, chat up the friendly staff, and plan a trip to Italy ASAP.
