"I was just looking up Dr. Fischman's phone number and saw the one review on here. I'm sorry this reviewer had a negative experience, but I have had only very good experiences. Dr. Fischman is warm, patient, and knowledgeable. My whole family has benefitted."

"I would give this woman 0 stars if I could but I am posting this review to warn others to STAY AWAY from this office!!! There are other great mental health professionals for children in Charlottesville and Dr. Fischman is far from one of them. For starters, I had to call her twice to get an initial appointment for my child and it took me a total of FOUR DAYS to get a phone call back from her!!! When she finally got around to calling me back, I should have said no but she seemed nice on the phone and she was recommended by the family doctor's office, so why not??? The initial visit was not with my child but instead with me and my husband to get an overview of what our child is like. That visit was ok but looking back, why didn't she want to meet our almost 4 year old child and find out for herself??? So when leaving the office, she asked when would be a good time to get started with our child and my husband said "Why not the same time next week?" Dr. Fischman didn't hesitate and said "ok" and on the way out my husband said "See you next week at 9am". Fast forward to today...the day of our initial visit and she takes another patient (an adult...I thought Dr. Fischman only saw kids but whatever!) in her room right at 9am- the time my child was to be seen. Dr. Fischman looked directly to me and my two kids in the waiting room and didn't say a word. So it's 9:20am and I am getting pissed. I go to knock on her office door and she looks all confused as if I suddenly came out of thin air. I told her that I had an appointment at 9am and acts like she had no clue. So she pauses to look at her "papers" (I think she was trying to look like she was doing something to alleviate her screwup!) and said "I have you for 8am tomorrow" which is impossible because my kid has preschool on that day and the fact my husband is ex-military who takes pride in our scheduling and being on time to things. I also witnessed the scheduling as I put it in my calendar the minute the time and date was agreed upon- basically you got both my husband and I putting in the EXACT time and date. So at that point I walked away from Dr. Fischman's blatant lies and while leaving, I was in her waiting area I noticed on one of the tables that she doesn't start until 9am!!! Basically she lied to me about this 8am appointment that NEVER existed to begin with!!! So long story short....the woman is a liar and clearly EXTREMELY disorganized!!! She caused a lot of unwanted frustration on my child and she never even apologized for her unprofessionalism or to even check to see if my child was ok when my child was clearly melting down outside of her office door because of the scheduling mess she made. So if you are a parent who lives and dies by your schedule like I am and juggling a child with special needs, don't waste your time here! Find a place that respects BOTH your time and your child's feelings!"
