"The creation of this place was a fantastic idea. The little park and fields for kids and the trail right along the water. I adore the two fences in areas for dogs. I take my Artemis there all the time and she just loves it. Wish it wouldn't be muddy there, but it's probably from the dogs digging and what not. Just try and keep it seeded as best as one can considering the dogs."

"As described in other posts, this little piece of heaven has easy access from the main road. It offers picnic tables near a small playground, there's shade and restrooms, and a beautiful, easy trail to bicycle or walk on. The water here is awesome. Rocky, but the large rocks that don't cut your feet (: it varies in depth, where some parts my husband was even able to lay down! I must warn tho, as with any natural bodies of water, algae accumulates on the sides and in more stagnant areas. The rocks can be super slippery and it gets realllllllllly thick towards the sides. Additionally, at the entrance where a lot of people lounge, the depths vary- so if you have little ones keep eye on them bc if there's a dip and they don't have a floaty, it can easily be a scary situation. Other than that we saw kayakers, families, dogs, swimming tubes and more. The water temperature in mid-August was such a treat. There where little tadpoles and other small fish swimming between our ankles. Overall, this is a wonderful, relaxing, and a total treasure of Front Royal"

"Beautiful, huge dog park! Love this place! Park in the lot on the left at the bottom of the hill, then take a walk along the river a few hundred yards, past the soccer field and playground. You will come first to the small dog park, then a little further is the large dog park. They provide doggy poo bags and receptacles to clean up (please clean up after your dog does his/her business!). We took a frisbee and one of those tennis-ball throwers. The dogs love running the length of the park!"

"I've been coming here (mainly to skip rocks and swim) since it was just a boat launch and the parking lot was a large overgrown field and they had warning buoys floating in the water warning you to not drink or eat the fish from the AVTEX water (I'm sure some of you remember that). I've always loved it and they've actually done a great job with the trail that they've got there. It is a very pleasant place to go for a walk and occasionally you get a train that goes by for an added plus."

"Beautiful park on the river, includes informative placards about the area history. Nice paved walking trail. Only caveat for us were the folks out walking along with their dogs unleashed. We keep our pup on a leash and at least one of the unleashed dogs appeared aggressive to other folks walking. We didn't appreciate that at all. That aside, other than being bitterly cold the day we visited, the park is nicely done, very well kept and clean. The river views to the South from the boat ramp are quite picturesque."
