"I enrolled my son in the summer program last year, and decided to not move forward with the school year. Here are the highlights of my experience: 1.) The staff at the school we’re very nice. My understanding of the Montessori way of learning is minimal, but I did like how they encouraged independence with the children. They also have a nice facility. 2.) The co-op hours was the deciding factor to leave. I had thought those hours would be more along the lines of chaperoning a field trip or maybe helping with activities at the school. When reviewing the list, the options included mowing their grass or mulching just to name a few. It just seems odd to require parents to provide maintenance services for the school in addition to paying a premium rate. That was the deal breaker for me. 3.). You’re required to sign two contracts for year round schooling, a summer school contract and a school year contract. I made the decision to remove my son a week before the end of summer school, and told the staff he would not continue with the school year. Their contract reads that you are not required to give notice the first 30 days of the school year, and either the school or parent can choose to terminate at any time during that period. The front desk staff also indicated that my sons last day would be the end of summer school. By the language in their contract, I don’t have to give notice - so I didn’t and made arrangements at a different daycare. Their administrator emailed me requesting for me to pay for the first month of the school year. After pointing out the language in the contract, she did not acknowledge my concerns and stated “let us know when we can expect your payment”. I found her response to be rude and unprofessional. I had my attorney send them a letter about the situation, stating they’re actions are not legal. Never heard anything back, no apologies or anything. It was absurd how unprofessional this administrator handled my situation."
