"I was told that the provider I was seeing was not covered under my insurance, so I stated that I would be self pay and added my HSA card on file for billing. Every month, Life Stance would automatically withdraw charges for each of my sessions, and things were good or so I thought. After I discontinued services with them, I saw that records of these charges, except for one, were no longer visible; however none of the money that had previously been withdrawn was refunded to my HSA. I was slapped with a bill of almost $2,000 and told that I “was never really registered as self pay in their system.” I sincerely regret ever seeking services with Life Stance and I would not recommend them to anyone, especially if they are self pay."

"Medical assistant had an attitude for no reason when I’m simply asking about confirmation of refills I need for critical medication. Had zero urgency and just said “I can’t guarantee it’ll come today” when it’s literally running out. Also asked them to send my info to a psychiatrist in the community where I go to school out of state, but had to go in circles about it - absolutely clueless. Managing mental health isn’t easy and everyone deserves to be respected as they do so, especially since it’s a very new, “black box” process for many. Asked their billing team to update my info and I still have a balance when I was crystal clear about my insurance information. My PCP did it, so why can’t you? Psychiatrist gave me an ADHD medication that works mostly for kids and wanted me to “exhaust the supply” before moving to something else. Was never notified that she’s leaving the practice, and now have to work with a new person. I chose this practice to receive culturally competent care in my neighborhood, but it was a mistake. I’m doing one last appointment and finding a new provider. Find a different practice, this isn’t worth it."

"Today was my intake at LifeStance and I am very satisfied. I met Dr. Alfaz and it was immediately evident that I was in the right place. She listened to everything I had to say and was extremely friendly and professional. Best of all was it was in-person, not virtual. I had gotten tired of video appointments and I just feel more comfortable talking to someone when they're right in front of me. Dr. Alfaz had no judgement, no talking down, and was completely down to earth. She related my story to that of one of her family members who has similar symptoms. I was even able to get an appointment with one of their social workers (Kenneth) within a few hours of heading home. I will see him in a couple of days. So far, great start. I am looking forward to my next visit there in June."
