"At first glance, Green Top looks like the other big outdoor sporting goods stores. But then you learn there's only one of them, it's still family owned, and it's been there since the 1940s. To me, that says something. They have an interest in the community, have great local knowledge, and are willing to share that with you. I was interested in a new kayak, I had done my reading and had honed in on a Nucanoe Pursuit. Green Top were my local dealer, so off we went. Within 30 minutes we were out the door with a brand new kayak on top of the car. I can't say enough about Todd, the manager of the fishing section. He talked us through it, gave us the best price going, and even helped us load an 80lb kayak onto the car. I went back a couple of days later with a minor concern and he took care of that immediately too. They didn't have the paddle I was looking for, but they ordered it for me straight away. Yes, I could have ordered it online, but I like this place and I like the people who work there. It seems to me that the more we can support local places in the community, the better off we all are."

"I've been shopping here for nearly 2 decades. Their prices and selection are amazing, it's a great place for an outdoor and firearm enthusiast like myself. The only problem I have with the place is the staff is really hit and miss. When I was a soldier, I had tried to buy a pistol here and the gentleman told me "soldiers can't own firearms" (this is not true) and "its not smart to argue with people behind a firearm counter" (implying some type of threat). I figured it was just one jerk. Now I recently bought a used firearm that was defective (it happens, it was used). The problem is that every staff member is dragging their feet. The gunsmith say they're too busy with hunting season, the manager says they're hurrying, but I've been waiting two months now. The manager offered a store credit. Bottom line: great store, knowledgeable staff, not so great attitude toward customers."
