"The most fatphobic doctor I’ve ever seen. I was a size 12/14 when I was pregnant and any time I mentioned any concerns or joint pain she blamed my weight and said there’s nothing to be done. I had horrific pain from SPD and SI joint issues that left me debilitated and depressed. I tried to go back for my second baby but it made me so anxious to even be in the office I switched OBs. The office I switched to was amazing. When I mentioned SI joint pain they immediately sent me to PT and my PT said my pain was due to a genetic joint condition I have and had zero to do with my weight. Even more proof that it wasn’t tied to weight was after a few weeks my pain was hugely improved by the therapy and I was able to stay moving throughout the rest of my second pregnancy. If Dr Barrett treated me this badly at a size 14, I’d hate to think how she treats larger patients. I’m thankful Dr Speyer actually did my first delivery. BTW, Dr Barrett, I had two vaginal deliveries as a plus size person and the only other complication I had was anemia the second time. Stop treating your plus size patients so horribly."

"I did not have a good experience with Dr. Barrett. I am a 25 year old woman that is on the bigger side, but my family physician says nothing about my weight in a bad way. I went in for my annual pap and to talk about starting to try and conceive because my fiance and I are getting married in 3 months. She told me I was going to have horrible problems getting pregnant because of how big I am. That there is a 50% chance that I'm going to need to have a c-section, that I'm going to get all these diseases while I'm pregnant. I left this appointment crying...I won't be going back. I just recently got off the pill, I'm taking prenatal vitamins/other vitamins, and I'm walking/working out a couple times a week. I just never thought a woman could crush my heart as badly as she did about getting pregnant."
