UHS Walk-In - Vestal

"Had a not so pleasant experience at UHS Vestal last week. I’ve been struggling with what I believe were flu symptoms: cough, horrible chest congestion, nasal congestion, had some low grade fevers, mild body aches and just overall not feeling good. Symptoms had started earlier the week and got a little bit better but the chest congestion and cough were still horrible. I’m 30 weeks pregnant so I decided to go in and ask them to test me for flu and Covid as to get some answers. I must say that I have an allergic reaction to an ingredient called Guaifenesin which is present in most cough syrups/expectorants. Hence why I went to get checked up so I could be provided with some alternative. At that point, I had exhausted all my options at home: teas with honey, drinking an unearthly amount of water, nebulizer, resting as much as possible and Tylenol. Upon being checked by the doctor I was informed that there was no point in testing me for the flu (because of being past 48h of onset of symptoms) and no point to be tested for Covid as I couldn’t do the treatment due to pregnancy. The doctor told me that there was nothing he could do for me or prescribe me because of the allergy I have and other options not being pregnancy safe. So the trip there was a complete waste of time (and money, eventually when the bill comes in the mail). So if you’re struggling with cold or flu symptoms and looking to get some answers, you may want to just call your primary doctor or go straight to the ER depending on the severity of symptoms. This walk in clinic isn’t the place for you."

"I came to Walk In with a wound check. While there a couple other issues showed. The PA was wonderful and thorough helping figure out what needed to be done. Had the best care and better than my Primary had given me. Was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable and shared all details with me even calling me at home with lab results."

"Extremely well thought out plan for virtual appointments. The process is fast to begin the appointment and Dr. Genese did an excellent assessment during the visit. She offered alternative options for relief since antibiotic treatment wasn’t warranted at this time. 10/10!!"

She even made arrangements by phone for me to have a needed diagnostic test over at Wilson Hospital right before they were closing. I was very impressed with the care I received and would highly recommend them."

"Excellent service. I was a walk in, and set up the appointment upon arrival at the front desk. I waited about 20min but that was expected with a packed lobby and clocking in only having just arrived. The Doctor I spoke with was polite and direct. Got my tests for strep and covid done and sent out. Never had more considerate, swifter, and more efficient service in my 30+ years."
