"I recently discovered this hidden gem and it has some of the best baked bread in Maryland! Always stop by to get a new loaf and other foods and products that are not easily found in larger markets. Highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates fresh flavors and staff who are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their products."

"Afia International Market isn't my top choice, but I frequent it for their fresh bread. Admittedly, the store could be cleaner but I recently went in there and they have improved drastically and the owner/clerk’s demeanor isn't the friendliest. Limited product selection initially but may be attributed to its small size. They now have such a huge selection of products. Over the years, I've observed a decline but based on my recent visit they have improved drastically. It's not a preferred store, but it serves its purpose with room for improvement."

"Don’t come here. When I came here I thought it was interesting that all of the seasonings seem to be half full. When checking the bottle the Suya seasoning all had no seals on them. I asked for a return which they returned it. When I got home I saw that the seasonings that I did get the seals on them were loose. I suspect that they empty the bottles into new bottles ultimately selling less for the same price of a full bottle of seasoning. I will never go back here. I can’t shop at a place where people are dishonest."

"Afia International Market's painful customer experience from the store guy. Today's best decision was to end my purchase at the Afia International Market in Elkridge, MD, and I will never go to that store again. I went there this evening to buy snacks, and I already knew that the minimum purchase to use a card is $10 because I have been buying things I don't need in that store to support “so-called black own business” and making the minimum purchase of $10 for Nine years. Anyway, I took some plantain chips and chin chin to exceed the threshold of $10. I was looking for a bottle of water inside his refrigerator to add to my purchase, but I couldn't find a bottle of water but Goya and other non-alcoholic drinks. I looked on the floor, and I saw a case of water that was already broken. I took one bottle of water, and I was at first joking with him that I hoped you are not going to charge me for this water because it was not cold, it was on the floor, and it also looked like something you were drinking yourself. I hadn't even finished my sentence before the store guy started angrily shouting. Here are his words “Why should I give you the water for free? Can I go to your place of work to ask for free stuff, or can I take money out of your paycheck? How dear you are asking me for that. Can you go to giant and ask them for a free water bottle?” At this point, I felt so embarrassed, and I told him, bro don't worry about it. I'm going to pay for the bottle of water. No one is asking you for free stuff; besides, you know me that I have been coming to your store for nine years to support your business, and I have never asked you for free stuff, but the way you are talking to me right now is terrible, and this is poor customer service. I walked away from his store, and he followed me outside and yelled, “don't ever come back to this store again. I usually don't write reviews, whether bad or good. But I want people that go to Afia International market to pay attention to the store guy. He's insulting and arrogant. He acts as if he’s doing you a favor by spending your hard-earned money at his store. I understand we don't have that many African stores in Howard county, but guess what, I will drive 20 minutes to PG COUNTY where I don't have to deal with an arrogant village man. He said he's a business man, but this is not how successful businessmen treat their customers."
