"Alright, After being wowed dining here for lunch I told myself I would try their hotel. Stayed here for 3 nights. Room was adequate and clean. However, the bathrooms are super small. I had to step out of the bathroom to dry myself off. Day 3, I come back to to the room, go to the bathroom and find an unscrewed cleaning solution bottle sitting on the toilet. Mistakes happen. It's fine. Go to check out and point out what I found but instead of an apology, they tell me that house keeping will be notified. Unless, all departments are independent of each other, this is not the response that the front desk should say. I just left. Many of the patrons step outside in the hallway to talk on the phone, I guess for privacy. Guess what, walls are very thin and you can hear everything. Location is great cause it's in the heart of a small town and it would be nice in better weather. 28 degree weather, not so much. The hotel has character. It's pleasant, clean and attractive. Everything you would expect from architecture from 1800s. I may stay here again when the weather 8s nicer, but it's not because of the lodging. It's the proximity to everything. Again, the bar is well stocked and even got one of my favorite bourbon, Eagle Rare."

"My review of Service at the Tidewater Inn is solely directed at the new Operation Manager at the Front Desk on Saturday on 2/3/2024 at 1445HRS. This person was anything but in the spirit of “The Innkeeper” dating back 1000’s of years to the birth of Jesus. His spirit was in keeping of what he would not due for a guest. For 13 years & averaging 3-4X per week when I’m not in Fl or DC, my travel have taken me through the gorgeous, pleasant, and friendly Front Doors of The Tidewater Hotel. Tidewater Management should recognize Carla, Yosher, and Sebastian for their can do & friendly spirit in helping me return a 2000.00 electronic device to a guest due to arrive at 1700HRS. These 3 employees embrace the true spirit of “The Inkeeper”. Respectfully, Capt JB"

"What a wonderful small historic town and Inn. We had our daughter's micro wedding (19 people) at the Tidewater House and the reception in the Tidewater Carriage House. Michelle from the Inn, did a wonderful job as a wedding planner guiding us through the entire event, accommodating all of our needs along the way. She was flexible and gracious. The food at the reception was 5 star. We had the filet mignon, salmon and the vegetarian ravioli. They took our small wedding and made it into an elegant affair. Most venues just put a small wedding or event in a conference room and say that they have party space, but Tidewater Inn has a beautiful space that makes you feel special. There is nothing we would change. All of the guests stayed in the Tidewater House and Monica the inn keeper couldn't have been more sweet and helpful in making that stay even more special. The pictures on the website do not do the Tidewater House guest suites justice. They are huge and beautifully appointed. The common areas were so lovely and enjoyed by the guests. There are two beautiful bathrooms in the Carriage House for the reception guests. The hotel and event staff were all so great. The rooms in the Inn were small but beautifully refurbished and the overall Inn is beautiful and has plenty of space to gather with friends. Don't hesitate to book a room or event at the Tidewater Inn or House."

"The front desk is phenomenal. The restaurant is very shady. I felt you were stereotyped because we were a biracial couple. Every time we went to the restaurant we were given specific seats and never a choice that we suggest because they claim the seat is reserved, yet there would be no names on them, as if we were ruining the property value by sitting in the open. They would repeat to us every morning that it is a buffet only yet we would see other people order off the menu. The appetizers were not consistent, the food was not consistent and we stayed for 3 days. The bathroom doors are horrible they are swinging sliding doors, they do not have a seal there is no privacy and there is stained glass, you can see someone sending you on a toilet, you absolutely no privacy. I've never seen anything like that in my life, the bathroom is the most private place ever, how could you not have actual doors in the bathroom? Again the front desk is phenomenal, but I am not happy with the upgrade of the rooms and Hunter's tavern turned us completely off with there bias the attitude. This was our second year coming. Next we will stay in St Michael's. I was not very happy with the service this time, last year I was pleased but this year there is a whole new staff and it is very displeasing."

"Three girlfriends on a getaway to celebrate the season. I could not have been more pleased. The hotel was beautifully decorated with a giant tree and a wood burning fireplace. From the time of our checkin to our departure the service was exceptional; friendly and accomodating. Our Family Suite had two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a living room at the front. Only disappointment was the.fireplace was in disrepair. At $360/night, everything should work. While we never made it to Hunters Tavern, the onsite restaurant, we did order breakfast to go and it was marvelous. I highly recommend the deep diah quiche! Special thanks to Robin, the hostess who went above and beyond to get us coffee in the suite. No roomservice was a suprise but all else.was just what the Dr. orderered. This is now an annual tradition."
