"Derby Empire is the go to location for all things roller skating in the DMV. From high end and recreational skates, helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, t-shirts, socks, bearings, bushings, and laces, DE has quite the inventory for the skating enthusiast! The owner is an active Roller Derby skater of 10 years and is very knowledgeable on roller skates and accessories. She was incredibly patient during my store visit, explaining all the intricacies with wearing, lacing, and basic mechanics of skating. I could not believe how much goes into finding the best skates to wear and maintain! The pictures of roller derby players on the walls were very cool (the owner is in a few, see if you can spot her!). Definitely recommend this store regardless of your skating experience!"
"As an aggressive inline skater I needed high quality pads to go with my new skates. After having no luck at five large retailers I came here and found everything I needed and more. Best of all the woman tending to the shop was wonderful to deal with and truly enjoys skating. Well worth spending the money here to buy in person and check out the equipment first hand.
