"This cozy, unassuming Mexican restaurant was the nicest surprise. We’re visiting town for the first time and decided to have lunch before hitting the road. San Cristobal was located in a downbeat industrial-like area. At first, we thought we’re going to regret trying it. That fear increased briefly the moment we walked in and a customer drinking coffee at the counter turned to us with an ill-disposed look. But just a moment later we’re sitting at this peculiar room, on chairs and tables decorated with rustic paintings of Mexican rural life, all very colorful and uplifting. Thanks to Covid-19, I assume, the small eating room was nearly empty at noon on a Saturday. We ordered the house stake with soft tortillas and a cactus salad. They served chips and salsa as we waited. The whole atmosphere was homey, and so was the food. The after-lunch coffee was disappointing, but the bill was about right. Do stop by when you’re around."
