Joey's Pizza (Middletown)

"This is going to be a unique review because this restaurant has basically done a complete flip flop under new ownership. Let me explain that under the previous ownership and management the place was dirty , the bathroom being completely not taken care of. The employees were inattentive and some came across disrespectful how they talked to co-workers and to customers. The prices were on the high side but not out of this world but the food was consistently good. Now for the new ownership , they did a great job fixing the place up and painting it a much brighter color. The place is much cleaner and the bathroom was super clean and well taken care of. Totally different employees and they were very friendly and respectful creating a good atmosphere. The menu is now much cheaper, very affordable prices but this leads me to the negatives; the food quality was very underwhelming pepperoni pizza was extremely greasy with a very salty flavor. Hawaiian pizza had very dried ham and almost no pineapple along with being very salty. Jamaican beef patty was dry and tasted old. Cold cut hero should have been named shredded lettuce hero as 80 percent was lettuce with very little meat on it. The cook doesn't know how to make a sandwich either as the meat was folded in the inside so one bite and all the lettuce, tomato, and onions fell out. The roll itself was good but poorly made. Now I know why the low prices. I can't recommend this place unless you are on a tight budget and need to eat cheap."

"You're hungry for pizzas? This is the right place to go to, slices, lunch dinner pastas and salad, a great variety for all tastes... If I have the chance, wherever I am, driving will get me here and to enjoy all fabulous tastes and choices. Clean fresh friendly comfortable, great for the whole family, have a taste adventure at this great affordable place."

"It's called a pizza restaurant when we walked in we asked if we should just be seated. I guess there was a language barrier. We sat down others, walked in and straight up to the counter. It turns out that you need to order at the counter it's counter service only and you have to bus your own tables when they do bring things to your table, they don't take anything away even stacks of empty dishes. Most of the food was okay. The dinner came out with garlic bread which I was not expecting. It looked like it had a lot of minced garlic on it but while there wasn't any flavor? And there's some sort of orange butter substitute. They made the chicken francese fresh but it needed to be cooked with some lemon. We had lemon from other dishes but I was able to squeeze onto the dish and make it exceptible. It came with rice which was delicious on its own. Steamed clams were sandy but the shrimp cocktail was amazing but the cocktail sauce lacked any horseradish."

"Good pizza! Ordered a deep dish, which was good and very filling. Came back for a slice of cake the next day, which tasted good but was a little on the dry side; may have just been in the refrigerator too long. The staff were friendly, and there was a wide variety of pizza slices and other prepared foods available. Overall, happy with the experience."
