"*Please allow me to preface that I have never once left a negative review before-- take what you will from that.* Normally, whenever I visit Joe's Barbershop, the shop is packed and I'm met with both good old-school energy and a wait time (which is not inherently bad; if business is booming, that is as it should be). Will and Mr. Joe are great. Today, I came in the early evening and was met by a lone man and an empty shop (which perhaps was the universe strongly hinting at me to leave). Initial impressions aside, when I sat in the chair I asked for my (1) hair to be cut shorter while maintaining its shape, (2) beard to be lined-up, and (3) a low taper. This is not much to do; it can be finished comfortably in 45 minutes. After showing two reference pictures of ~myself~ with the hairstyle I wanted (these were older pictures) and mutually agreeing on the amount of hair to be removed (the plan was the amount of hair remaining would be pick-length with the ability to maintain a curl), the haircut began. Long-story-short, 1 hour and 40 minutes after sitting--mostly turned away in the chair from the mirror, as if it was intentional--I finally see the reflection of a botched, poorly cut, absent of discernment, angular haircut. In that timeframe, my hair was mainly being shaped. My line-up hadn't been touched. After looking visibly perplexed in both the mirror and my phone's front camera, I asked to be let up from the chair without him finishing. Contrary to what he was suggesting ("Oh, I still need to round it out some more."), the damage was done-- there was no fixing it. I paid him, then left from what he imagined to be his crusade. And on principle, will never return to shop at all... I sincerely wish the shop the best of luck. Please find the before and after pictures attached as well as the reference picture."
