Salon 809 - A Dominican Hair Salon

"Pros: The salon is beautiful and clean. I’ve met the owner a few times and she’s always been pleasant. The front desk people speak fluent English. Cons: They cannot do hair! They gave my daughter the choppiest craziest looking trim I’ve ever seen. They move very slow. Booking an appt. is useless when they accept walk-ins, so if someone walks in 5 min before your appt time, you still have to wait. I wanted to love this place because it’s conveniently close by. It just doesn’t measure up."

After starting out with Brazilian Knots with you, I have had a wonderful experience at the 809 Salon at the Hyattsville location until I heard what was being said in your native language by your staff and decided to look elsewhere. A short time later, I returned to the Bowie location. That was not a good experience after I got a wash and set and how the stylist kept pulling on my hair like she didn't know what she was doing using the flat iron. After she was done my hair still wasn't straight! Well, I went in feeling energetic, but left with a headache. Not happy!"

"This was my first time going to salon 809 and my experience was great. This was my first blow out in over three years and I love it. I got an all over color dye, trim and blowout. The staff was welcoming and the salon is beautiful and clean. I 10/10 recommend!"

"I came here on Friday for a black Friday special. My appointment was at 11 but I came in at 10 and was seen earlier, which I am grateful for. I had two problems, the gossiping and you can't tip on your card. I was very uncomfortable with how the stylest talked about the receptionist and also about another stylist who wasn't there. I understand talking with your coworkers if you're upset about another coworker but just not in front of the customers. It was very unprofessional and uncomfortable. I wanted to tip on my card as I didn't have cash but they only accept tip on cashapp or walk over to the ATM and get a tip. Other than that it's your typical dominican salon. A bit overpriced. The receptionist mentioned what the price would be without the special and 80 for mid length thin hair is a bit excessive. I normally go to Alinas in college park and it's $60."

"My experience at Salon809 was amazing 10000/10 i would recommend this place to everyone if i could, i went to this hair salon to get my birthday hair washed, cut and styled the staff was very welcoming and place was very clean my stylist was Liva and she did an absolute wonderful job loved her! she took her time and brought my hair back to life from the cut to style. and i had a relaxing great time while getting it done, service was absolutley wonderful and i will be going there again always! Thank you Liva and staff you guys are wonderful and will be recommending to all my friends and girls :)"
