"A Saturday Adventure through the arts district of old Hyattsville continued with a grand finale at Franklins. After exploring the art workshop and eclectic thrift store, we worked up an appetite and was curious about the other side of the street where Franklins and the other stores were situated. Turns out, there's a general store attached to the restaurant! The general store retained its antique architecture and it was like stepping into the past with high ceilings, handmade candles and kitchen gadgets. It's exquisitely large inside that also includes a section in the back for alcoholic beverages. To my delight, there's another subsection for descendant soaps and lotions, personal cards and self care items. We almost forgot about being hungry and the convenient connection to the restaurant enticed us to finally get a table. Something as simple as a burger and fries turned into the most delicious meal that punctuated with freshness and thoughtful preparation. This was not your average burger, no this bovine was treated with respect, raised with love and happiness and perhaps grazed in lush grass under the Sun, wore a Tiffany necklace and knew no fear. My first bite had my eyes rolling in the back of my head! There was no gristle and every bite was as smooth as silk. It was supported by a buttery bun and fresh lettuce, tomato and pickles. The fries were hot and delicious, crispy on the outside but tender inside. Even those potatoes felt like they were picked with happy intentions. Bravo and kudos to the chef, wait staff, hostesses and management because this was a heavenly experience. In addition, you're surrounded by inspiring art that made my artistic soul want to paint right there at my table."

"This place is awesome. Not only do they have a nice selection of beer and food, but the gift shop area is really cool. They also have a large outside section which is perfect for nice days."

"Based on all the reviews I was surprised by how disappointed I was with Franklins. Stopped by for dinner and tried both the pizza and the burger since they both came highly recommended. Both were fine but didn't really stand out - though I'd rate the pizza higher than the burger. Got a flight of beer and sent it back mostly untouched, aside from the Oktoberfest the other 3 were just not great. On the plus side of things the tacos off the starters list were pretty good and my server was actually pretty attentive and checked in quite frequently. Just not sure I'd recommend this place or come back."
