"Fred Crabtree Park is a great hiking park that allows horseback riding though I have only followed a horse once in all my park visits over the years. There are elevation changes if you want them and a lot of trail loops to choose from. It's all footpaths - no asphalt trails here - and it does require surefootedness. And there are geocache's for those that enjoy that hobby. I really like this park. The main entrance is at the farthest end of the soccer field parking lot so plenty of parking. Be sure to bring your water bottle. Update 9/9/23 a quick visit to check on the geocaches we have hidden in the park. All is well. Came across evidence of recent horse activity (added photo)."

"It is a great place to walk. It was not busy when I walked on the trails. You have to park next to the soccer field to get to the entrance to the trail. There are a lot of trails, a soccer field, and two baseball fields. You can cross Little Difficult Run on one of the trails. It is a good place to walk your dog."

"Great place for a hike with friends and pets. Trails were not busy with people and were well maintained. I would recommend going earlier in the day, and bring a folding chair as there are some great places to have a picnic"

"Not a fan! It rained last weekend and the trails are still somewhat wet and muddy, 5 days later. The portion of the trail I managed to explore was very narrow and not kept that my 2 little terrier mixed pups just fit when they were walking side by side. Some portion of the overgrown plants grew into the trails and scratching my legs as I walked passed. I managed to reach the creek and shortly after, one of my pups just didn't like the trail, turned around and walked back to the car... this said a lot! She only did it 1 other time at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park in Chantilly when she was a puppy. I think Ellanor C. Lawrence Park might be haunted because a previous pup I had freaked out over something he saw in the woods that I wasn't able to see or hear. He took off running, never done that before. Anyway, I'm not saying that this park is haunted, it just didn't feel right for my pup. Anyway, I don't plan on coming back. We went to Walker Nature Center area and walked the Reston paved trails instead. This park has a school, soccor field and large portable toilet. The trail entrances are at the end of the soccer field."

"Nice park for a moderate to easy hike, bring your boots. Portions of the trail are not cleared so it's easy to loose your way on the trail. But apart from that it's a great escape into wilderness in the middle of the city of Herndon"
