The land was owned by various families over the years, including the Weems and Bland families, who owned slaves. The property eventually passed through several owners until it was purchased by Henry and Lillian Smith in 1937 to raise Arabian horses.
The park features a mix of deciduous forest, fields, and farmlands, with opportunities for outdoor recreation such as hiking, picnicking, and birdwatching. Future plans for the park include outdoor basketball courts, a skate park, pickleball courts, pathways, and shade structures. The East area boasts ball fields, turf fields and a BMX teack, while the West area offers a range of sports facilities, from basketball courts and tennis courts to disc golf and a playground. Picnic pavilions are available on first come first served basis unless they have been pre-booked."

"Really lovely public park. Popular disc golf, tennis courts, pickleball, mountain bike skills park, biking paths and hiking pads and running area. Baseball fields, basketball courts. This place has everything. Multiple entrances and bike accessible. Bring the whole family, you can often find me here with my kids playing on the playground. I love it. Bring a picnic."
"Those park is close to many trails including "Morning Choice" and "Falls Trail" I really like to start walking from here and follow these trails because you can enjoy a lot of vegetation, one of the best trails here in the area. Also, you can access the patapsco park from here, although you will need to walk about 45 min to get there, but it's worth it. This park has disc golf ⛳️ which is super nice, extensive green areas and old buildings that you can photograph and take selfies."
