Shoppe Off Broadway is a unique institution located at 11 Cato Street in Salem, New York, United States. As a store, we manage the Courthouse Complex and offer a wide range of fine and performing arts, crafts, and educational activities for individuals of all ages. Our focus is on providing opportunities for the community to enjoy, participate in, and serve through various programs and events. We take pride in restoring and preserving the Old Washington County Courthouse in Salem, NY, which has received almost one million dollars in grants and donations for restoration work since 2002. Our institution is known for having one of the best-preserved 19th-century courtrooms in New York State.
In addition to our preservation efforts, we serve as a thriving community center in Washington County, NY, offering diverse programs and events for all to enjoy. Our summer program for Salem area children runs for five weeks, five days a week, and five and a half hours per day, providing a safe, healthy, and educational environment for kids. We also host the Hebron-Salem Repair Café, where local volunteers help repair broken household items for free, promoting sustainability and reducing waste.
Music from Salem presents a variety of musical expressions from traditional to contemporary composers, creating an exciting and exploratory musical experience. We also feature performances by five musicians sharing traditional and original music from Turkey, the Balkans, and the Middle East. Additionally, Hudson Headwaters Health Network operates a mobile health center at the Historic Salem Courthouse, providing healthcare services such as women's health, pediatrics, general care, vaccinations, and more.
