"A lovely preserve! The entrance is in a graveyard, which was a bit confusing but very cool, and once you actually start on the trails you get lovely views of plant, wildlife, and the stream."
"A lovely short loop with many stream views. Hemlock and birch forests. Good in winter or anytime!"
"I was hesitant yet hopeful when discovering this preserve. I didn't know about the parking beforehand, so I parked in the lower entrance of the graveyard, which I was fearful I might get stuck in the mud! I was still hesitant when walking past the graveyard, under the chain on the road down into the woods, before we finally saw the entrance, then I felt a bit of relief. There were lots of roots in the beginning of the trail, and the water was stagnant and swamp-like. But as we wound around the trees and got to the actual stream, I was so glad we had explored further. It was so peaceful and the sun was hitting the water just right. There were a couple wooden semi-bridges and stumps to avoid any mud, it was fun and not super long. It was definitely worth the adventure. Also, agreed: not great for strollers."
"The Davis Stream Preserve in Jefferson, Maine is a quiet, easy hike that takes less than a hour. The trail wanders through a small, mixed hardwood and pine forest and along the edge of tbe Davis Stream. Wildlife and birds are found along the trail. Parking is at the nearby Willow Grange, then you hike up the road through the graveyard to reach the trailhead. The trail is well marked with blue blazes on tree trunks. This hike is suitable for families, but not stroller friendly. There are no restroom facilities. This is an eBird Hotspot."
"Beautiful hidden trail along the river I have known sine childhood. Perfect fall walk in the woods."
