"A beautiful area to camp, hike, swim, fish and boat and escape the sounds of the city and town life in the woods of Bigelow MTN and on Flagstaff lake."
"Such an amazing place. Great sites with amazing site keepers that care"
"Beautiful place but extremely overcrowded. Boyfriend and I were on a road trip to the east coast and didn’t get here until around 9pm since we were driving all the way from NH. When we arrived it was too dark to set up camp and a ton of cars were coming in and out of the camping area so we figured it was crowded. We ended up just sleeping in the car for the night and checked out the camping area and flagstaff lake in the AM. The campsites were basically all full, especially the lakeside ones, which are the best ones. We came on a Friday night for reference. Obviously trying to find a spot at 9pm isn’t smart or ideal, but regardless the place was crowded. Overall though the campsites and hiking areas in the preserve seem nice and the loon sounds here at night are absolutely amazing. Wish we could’ve gotten to experience more of this place."
"Nice campground, but maybe busy depending on a week. We camped there in 2020 and were lucky to take Ferry Farm (not listed on google maps, but you can find it in the brochure) in the middle of August. When we arrived on last week of August in 2021 there was a tent on the parking lot waiting to occupy the site. Parson's Brook was taken too so we went to Round Barn. Sites go from left #9 (closest to the parking, the group site is also there) to right #1 (1500 feet away from the parking) along the shore. #1 is the most remote with lots of fallen wood. Though all the sites are distant from each other you will definitely hear your neighbors. We saw people put a tent on a site on Thursday intending to arrive on the weekend. Or a note "Site #4 is taken with this parking spot." It's not good to see that kind of competition. People also camped on non-designated spots. We were lucky enough that two of the sites were about to leave. That was at 7am on Saturday so plan to arrive early or have a backup plan if you are not a one who will camp on a non-designated spot. Overall, the place is nice, people are mostly good with few exceptions."
"I chose this location for camping after doing a considerable amount of research. From the parking area, there are nine tent sites that can be walked to within a reasonable distance. The roads there were isolated enough to make me expect I might be the only person there this weekend, but the parking lot proved otherwise. The tent sites are beautiful, large, and all have waterfront access. I was fortunate enough to arrive in time to claim the only remaining empty site, so if you are heading a long distance to get here, I recommend having a backup plan. There are two pit toilets located around the parking area, and I strongly advise packing your own TP because it was wiped (see what i did there?) out. I will definitely return again, probably on a weekday when there is likely to be less noise and site competition."
