"Friendly people who protect you and the park. They know almost everything, don't be afraid to ask. After this point commerce and most of civilization stops, be prepared. Food, water, maps, flashlight, first aid are required to be in your possession after this point. No pets beyond this point. No cell service beyond here. Roads are narrow, winding, posted at 20 miles per hour. No pets are allowed beyond gate. Beyond this gate are the adventures of Baxter State Park. For a strenuous all day hike (11 miles, 3700 ft gain) try the traveler loop. Ask at the gate, they'll tell it is the best hike in park. Smaller hikes available on request."
