Latitude at South Portland

"Everything falls apart. They don't check the HVAC, so many rattle and one caught fire a few weeks back. Rent is high for the low quality and thin walls. No one upkeep the the outside, mail left everywhere, or dog poop everywhere. Last week, myself and others witnessed the building manager and maintenance changing codes for apartment doors WHILE chugging beers and wheeling around in a office chair. I would recommend finding somewhere safer and actually "Luxury". They even go through reviews before letting them on here, I've written multiple in the past and none have never been accepted."

"Latitude has been so helpful since even before we moved in. Coming from another state Deidra was on top of her game about helping us turn in the correct documents so everything was good by the time we arrived. They are so accommodating and go out of their way to put together social events so you can get to know your neighbors (I have made some of my best friends from these events) Some random little added bonuses are the trash butler!! No need to take your trash out in the cold!!! And the study rooms and work out facility (but I’m going to be honest I hardly used the work out facilities) Latitude feels like my home away from home if you’re lucky enough to get in ask Deidra about some good food spots, she always has the best recommendations."

"I lived at Latitude for 2 years. Having heat pumps, washer/dryer in unit, and a dishwasher are the major pluses of living here. Unfortunately, the buildings are cheaply built, meaning we heard absolutely everything through our walls, floors, and ceilings. If that was the worst of it I could live with it, but the true issue I had while living there was dealing with management. Management is extremely nice up until you’re fully moved in, then you become just another problem when you have a legitimate issue. I had 3 major issues while living here: First, on our very first weekend living in the apartment our upstairs neighbors (top floor) were having an absolute rager at 2 AM. I spoke with them to have them quiet down, etc. It kept happening every single weekend, and every time I would ask the neighbors to quiet down and email management asking them to step in. I was told to solve the issue myself multiple times, which I had already been trying to do. Those neighbors got a warning after a couple months of this, but excessive noise did not stop and management did nothing further to remedy the situation. Second, packages are supposed to be delivered to a secure terminal to be picked up later with a code. I ordered a new phone last Christmas, which was promptly stolen from the lobby by (presumably) a neighbor, as the delivery person did not use the locker and management does not secure packages that are left out in the open. The worst of this is that we have security cameras in the lobby, but management outright refuses to let law enforcement view footage without a warrant, which law enforcement was not willing to go through the hassle of getting. I did not recover the package and lost out on over $1000. Third, when we were under contract for our mortgage to leave this place, the issuing bank needed management to fill out a simple email questionnaire to prove residency. It was like pulling teeth trying to get her to help us out and take 3 minutes to get it done. I asked about it every day for over a week because at this point I was used to how she operated in an unhelpful manner. Deidra was overt in her tone when speaking to me to make me feel like an annoyance when I asked her in person after sending several emails. She told me she submitted it, but the bank never received it. Thankfully the bank was willing to work with us to get it done another way. I wouldn’t recommend Latitude unless management changes."

"Lived here two years and experience was great. Accommodations were clean and new, nice. Was a great place. The reason for the five stars and not 4 is because of the amazing women they have running it, Deidra. She is truly amazing. She was always there to help or even lend a ear. She’s always going above and beyond to make everyone happy, truly a wonderful person."
