We The People of Albany is a finance, lawyer, and local government office located at 900 Central Avenue, Albany, New York, United States. One of the unique services offered by We The People is the "One Signature Divorce" process. This process is designed for situations where a spouse may not be willing to sign divorce papers. In such cases, the customer can opt to have their spouse process served.
After the court issues the index number, We The People prepares an Affidavit of Service Form for the customer at no additional cost. The customer can choose their own process server or use a recommended licensed company. Process server charges typically range from $75 to $125.
If the spouse does not respond within 40 days of being served, the customer can sign the remaining divorce documents and file them with just one signature. However, if the spouse responds and contests the divorce, We The People will provide all prepared forms up to that point, ensuring that the customer's fee is not wasted.
This service is available in Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, and Saratoga Counties only. The rush divorce service option is an additional service that can significantly reduce the overall divorce process time. It includes the preparation and filing of forms within a 48-hour period.
