About the Business

Sport Bay of Plenty

Welcome to Sport Bay of Plenty, located at 406 Devonport Road in Tauranga, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, our institution is dedicated to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle in our community. Sport Bay of Plenty works tirelessly to encourage more people to engage in sports, recreation, and health activities, aiming to get them active more frequently.

Excitement is in the air as the Zespri AIMS Games return to Tauranga Moana next week. To make the games even more enjoyable, Tauranga City Council and Bay of Plenty Regional Council are offering a free park and ride service, providing a fun and sustainable way to travel around during the event.

Let us introduce you to Abby Furmage, our Finance and Operations Advisor. Abby's passion for hockey and staying active is evident, and she plays a crucial role in Sport Bay of Plenty. Learn more about Abby and her contributions to our institution on our website.

The highly anticipated 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup is set to kick off in Auckland tonight, with our very own Football Ferns taking on Norway at Eden Park. The event promises to draw a record crowd, showcasing the immense talent and passion for women's football in New Zealand and New Zealand.

On July 14th, the Matariki star cluster will rise, marking the beginning of a new year. It is a time for reflection, anticipation, and celebration. We have curated three activities for families with young children to enjoy during this special occasion.

Mark your calendars for a thrilling multisport event coming to Aotearoa New Zealand. Featuring 14 sports, this inclusive event will take place at Trusts Arena and surrounding venues from April 5th to 11th, 2024. Join us as we celebrate the joy of sports and the spirit of competition.

At Sport Bay of Plenty, we strive to support tamariki (children), rangatahi (youth), and whānau (family) in their pursuit of active lifestyles. We aim to remove barriers and create a comfortable environment for play, sports, and active recreation.

Don't miss the opportunity to see the FIFA Women's World Cup™ Original Trophy, which will be making a stop in Tauranga on June 18th as part of its tour around the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. Witness this iconic trophy up close and feel the excitement of the upcoming tournament.

Our Early Childhood Advisor, Lisa Thomson, has some fantastic ideas to keep your under fives moving this long weekend. Join in on the royal fun and engage your little ones in physical activities.

Easter is a perfect time to keep toddlers and preschoolers active. Discover three engaging activities that offer numerous benefits for our children and mokopuna (grandchildren). Our Early Childhood Advisor, Lisa Thomson, has carefully curated these activities, including instructions and a list of materials needed.

Recently, Sport Bay of Plenty collaborated with John Paul College in Rotorua for a co-design project. Led by our Central Bay Recreation Connector, Lizzy Gaston, this project aimed to enhance sport and activity options for rangatahi, driven by insights from a 'Voice of Rangatahi' survey conducted in 2021.

Join us at Sport Bay of Plenty as we continue our mission to inspire and support our community in leading active and healthy lives. Together, let's make physical activity accessible and enjoyable for all.
