About the Business

Welcome to MONA, Australia's premier establishment that combines art, food, and culture all in one place. Located at Berriedale, Main Road, 655, MONA is a must-visit tourist attraction and a point of interest for locals and visitors alike.
At MONA, you will be immersed in a unique museum experience like no other. Our collection of contemporary and thought-provoking art will leave you inspired and captivated. However, to ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit, we kindly ask you to pre-book your trip and pay a deposit. Don't worry, if you show up, you can get your deposit back. This system helps us manage our limited capacity and avoid no-shows, so everyone gets a chance to experience MONA. If you fail to show up after booking, there will be a cost of $10 and a lifetime of shame. We don't want that for you!
The deposit is $10 per person for adults and concession ticket holders. However, children under 18 can enter for free, although booking is still required. After your visit, you will receive an email where you can choose to have your $10 refunded or leave it with Daddy Walsh to support our furry friends.
But that's not all! If you prefer to enjoy the beautiful Mona grounds, you can do so without paying a deposit. Lounge on the lush lawns, explore the outdoor art installations, indulge in alfresco eating and drinking, and groove to live music. It's a perfect spot for a relaxing day out with family and friends.
For those visiting from outside Tasmania, the museum entry fee is $35 for adults, $30 for concession ticket holders, and $10 for children under 18. Children under 12 can enter for free, but booking is still required. Please note that starting from 30 September, there will be price increases. Adult entry will be $38, concession entry will be $32, and under 18s (non-Tasmanian) will be $15. The standard return ferry fare will also increase to $28.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to explore MONA and all it has to offer. Book your tickets now and get ready for an unforgettable experience.
Reviews
"Yes, the art installations are fabulous and thought-provoking as they should, but the star of the experience for me was the building. Amazing architecture that creates a dynamic space to provide such drama and atmosphere. In an ordinary building, the experience would not have been so rich. We spent time on the lawn eating, drinking, and listening to jazz in the winter sun. Fabulous. Next time, we will catch the ferry from Hobart and dine at their fabulous restaurants."
"Wow! What a beautiful place to visit. Really glad we had the opportunity to experience this incredible museum. The rooms are vibrant and interesting, such a vast array of pieces. Our teenage children enjoyed this as well so suitable for the whole family!"
"This is the greatest modern art museum in the world, bar none. Beautifully set underground with natural rock formations all around you. Unlike most museums, art work is not separated by era, you will see ancient tablets next to digital art. This continuity really inspires and connects like no other collection I’ve seen. The design of the space is also impeccable and human centered. Comfortable chairs and couches all around that seem like they could be part of an exhibit, but purposefully set aside for you relaxation and enjoyment. Tactfully placed mirrors behind the works and use of dim lighting makes it clear that the visitors are themselves part of the art. That being said, the museum is not pretentious in the slightest; quite the contrary, their sarcastic and self deprecating style makes the space more inclusive and is quite endearing and entertaining. This reflects in the up/down rating system and digital comments people leave on each art piece. Honestly hard for me to find fault in this place; the outside is not neglected, and the cocktail bar within the museum would be worth a visit as a stand-alone bar. Can’t wait to return. I highly recommend taking the museum’s ferry from Hobart too, this is absolutely part of the experience. Definitely plan at least a half day."
"My first visit was incredible - an amazing experience with so many different spaces and exhibits. This was my second visit - disappointing, and I didn't like being stuck underground. One particular experience I didn't like at all, 10 rooms that were so dark, I couldn't see anything and was glad to finally get outside. The beer was good and a great jazz band playing, enjoyed being outdoors."
